I've had depression since 4th grade and recently I was taken to a psych ward and the doctors discovered that if someone had just been there and gotten me help I wouldn't have psychosis. I'm so thankful for this music and music like this it got me through everything

I just found this video today, and as I listed to it and watch the video I cried like a baby, it's nice to know someone, even someone you'll likely never meet understands what it's like to deal with depression and anxiety. The lady on the bench to me represents most people who have never dealt with it, at first supportive, then freaked out and finally it's too much for them and they leave. Not to drag everything down it's just very close to my experience.

If you watch closely around 1:48 you very briefly see him sitting there with his head in his hands, right as someone walks across the screen. Blink and you really will miss it. This is reality, what is really happening, and is why the lady sitting next to him asks if he needs water and then passes him some tissues. The actual video shows it from a sort of inside his head perspective, this is how he is feeling, and nobody else can see what he is truly feeling - They're completely oblivious to the true battle he is facing, his demons. As someone who has battled briefly with depression myself in the past, and still suffer with generalized anxiety, I can absolutely really relate to this as a lot of people will be able to. No matter how many friends and family members you have that do their best to be there for you, and try to help you, the battle is yours, and yours alone. Nobody really understands what you are going through unless they've suffered themselves. Mental illness is a truly tragic and terrible thing, and my heart goes out to all the people that are currently suffering. I hope one day you can beat it and in the end win the war as I did myself eventually. Fantastic song and arguably an even better video!

Because of the society and culture we live in today social anxiety, depression and insecurity is much more prevalent than in previous generations - I doubt anyone dealing with these things would say they are the the worst thing they could possibly be going through, but it dosent mean they are easy by any means. This song hits me so hard, I've honestly been holding back tears. Raleigh has done a beautiful job in bringing to light the absolute weight and gravity of mental illness. His ability to describe it's constant contradictions and hypocrisy that swarm your head as you try to deal and cope and put on a facade that your okay is truly amazing. And in the moments you try to reach out for help, sometimes that help simply walks away from you. Mental illness (like depression, anxiety, etc.) really does feel like this never ending battle between yourself. The video on top of the lyrics speaks volumes.

It seems like his emotions are overwhelming him, and at the end, after a long fight, he releases. There could be 2 interpretations to this, one sad and one happy: 1. The emotions overwhelmed him completely, and he decided he can't fight them no more so he gave up and ended his life. 2. After a long internal psychological fight he realizes these are just emotions, and instead of letting them control him, he releases and accepts them. I think in this video, the latter option is intended, at 3:34 you can see him snap out of what seems to be a meditative state into clarity. This shows how much your mindset dictates how you perceive your reality. You can be the victim of your mind, or you can meditate and learn to control it.

i have been watching this video many many time over the years. i suffered from depression and anxiety over 10 years ago at the age of 17. to me it was impossible for me to understand, let alone tell anyone else how i actually felt. its a very scary and difficult to comprehend the dull emotions felt. and how un 'normal' it can make you feel. this video imo truly captures how i was feeling and how much a struggle life felt at the time. thankfully after 6/7 years thing improved massively and i am now nearly totally back on track,and can manage any small bumps quickly. to anyone who is experiencing this please try and talk about it. i know its very difficult, this so something i didn't do until years after it stared. but it really does help. things will improve it may feel like a long process but gradually it does ease and begin to get better. much love to all those who are struggling. and keep the faith x
