If you havent set a SPI down, then the default choice is the currently selected steerpoint or markpoint. When I had both the TGP and Maverick up, all I would have to do is press TMS up long and then china hat forward long again if I HAD to move the TGP and change the position I was looking at, for that quick adjustment. But that was not necessary as the markpoint location was correct, so just lock and fire the MAV after that.

I'm fairly new to a-10c but I've already gotten used to marking several targets (2-3) and firing off multiple mavs in one run by quickly switching between each point, slaving my mav's cam to the point and locking. Very useful and very fun.

This is what I've found with INR. In INR track modes the TGP is just trying to hold it's LOS using gyros, if you are maneuvering quickly the gyros will not be able to keep up and the pod LOS will drift off the target.

inert? TGP has AREA and POINT mode, they both will lock up the mountain in front of them instead. You need to force the TGP to slave to a topographical location on the map instead, so the markpoint is the easiest way to do so, unless you have coordinates and then its the same principle of a waypoint.

Well there was one more tall radar dish there that should be killed. After that, the launcher technically still can shoot at you with optics, but I'm not sure if this is done in DCS or not.

I'm a little confused at the point where you slave the mav to the tgp, you used China Forward Long right? won't that slave everything to the currently selected steerpoint, not the tgp? That is, moving the tgp won't move the mav seeker head, as the latter is looking at the markpoint.

read the manual for that one. It's just putting the numbers in the TACAN section, and pressing TCN in front of your stick, that's it... literally. that's it.

It's not a scam, nor a fake. Linebacker met the dude when he went to an airforce base just recently to fly the F-35 cockpit simulator there. There is a lot that the public doesnt know about.

TMS Aft short (cntr+down arrow key) puts the TGP in inertialmode or however it's called .... and it remembers the coordinates of your spi and moves the TGP in the same way as the marpoint does... but u actually dont need to create such markpoint.....try for your self ....it should be possible if i am not mistaken

Is there a way to slew the targeting pod to the SPI? For example put a SPI down on the TAD and then slew the TGP to the SPI? I am aware of putting steer points on the TAD but that process is long and it would be much simpler to slew the TGP to the SPI.

Just getting into sims and my favorite fighter is the A10 so the choice was obvious ... just a quick question ... does the Saitek X52 pro serve as a suitable second the the Hotas Warthog ? because i dont have 600 to spend on it .. but 160 would be reasonable for a good flight stick ! Cheers

Not always the best solution. They are very tough bitches and they like to bait you in close, to the point it's too late to turn and dodge. So it's an extremely risky technique. Most servers and many missions have multiple Tunguskas in one area, all covering each other, which renders that solution useless as well. Best way to really deal with it is to fire off two mavs in quick succession, but there are exceptions to everything, so it depends I guess.

Necropost, but search radar generally can't guide missiles, which is why a lot of SAM sites have a Fire Control Radar as well.
