God bless you for taking your time & effort to show us both way to remove the battery on the Ford Escape. By far the most intuitive video on how to do this procedure. If you get any dislikes, it probably From The Ford Dealership Mechanics and from the Ford Engineers revealing there TRADE SECRETS. 👨🔧👍👍👍👍👍

Great video - the negative terminal was badly corroded and so I ended up using both techniques in order to get the battery out. Easy to follow steps and lots of good tips - made the whole task very straightforward. Many thanks Ralf.

Happy Mother-in-Law = Happy Wife = Happy Life !! Thankyou for your effort and help. Did yesterday via first method. 2nd method looked easier but glad did first way as found a bunch of leaves and crap under filter from fall. Again, appreciated (Ontario Canada)

Thank you very much for sharing us on how to remove the battery both way on the Ford escape 2014. Yes i do sub and watched the full video. Greetings from Manitoba Canada.

You really helped me with this video, thanks very much! You are a natural instructor, very easy to understand.

I can't thank you enough. You made an otherwise lousy job so easy. Personal opinion is the 2nd option seems better. The wipers are a pain to line back up, but I got it on the second try and I didn't have to fiddle around in those tight spaces with the air filter. Thanks again!

Thanks for the detailed info. My battery died last night and I have to replace it today. This was great, since I don't know anything about engines, to guide me through the process. Now I will be able to do it myself without a mechanic & able to teach my son so he will know for his future.

I've replaced batteries on every car and truck I've owned, no problem until I needed to change the battery in my wife's 2014 Escape. This video is exactly what I needed. Also...replacing the lower signal lights is a pain too in the Escape. You need to go through the freaking wheel well...

I replaced the battery in my Wife's 2014. It was very easy but time consuming since this was the first time doing it. It took 40 minutes to remove, and about the same to assemble everything. I wanted to get it right. I'm sure I would get it done in 50 minutes the next time I have to do it. (assuming we still have it)

Thank you for being thorough by showing both methods! Remined me to clean the cowl

But be careful. The grommet on the left side of the air box is easily broken! Its attached to the bottom left lower corner of the battery housing.

Sir, thank you so much for recording this video its proved to be a godsend. I live in the UK, have a mk2 Ford Kuga and my battery is now toast because of the UK's corona virus lockdown coupled with me forgetting to unplug the dashcam, doh! Anyhow, your efforts have greatly eased my pain (Ford's questionable lack of easy battery access), so thank you once again.

Thanks so much for this clear and easy to follow video. Mileage may vary but I found that the cowl removal method was the easiest so that's what we did.

Thank you very much for making me this video!! I replaced my battery in my 1979 Chey Impala! Now, to replace a battery you must have a video things were so simple back then !! LoL

Thank you for creating this video! Currently, the Ford Escape is Ford's 2nd best-selling vehicle after the F-150. Although I am a Ford Escape fan, I don't like the battery location. Ford should have their engineers perform typical maintenance procedures on their vehicles before selling to the public. I would like to know the reasoning behind their decision to place the battery in such a difficult to access location.

Why in God's name would some engineer at Ford think this was a good idea. Of all the space in the engine compartment they couldn't have moved an air intake tube that never needs to be maintained and made room for the battery. I thought hiding the battery under the back seat was bad enough. It's got to be a game in engineering school, where to hide the battery in next years model. Thank you for showing both ways and for giving us the tools needed. 🤝🤝👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Hi from Canada. Appreciate the video, just need to decide if I use wiper blade or air box method.

very detailed...I will also be doing my mother-in-laws vehicle. I think the cowl way seems the best
@dannyboy70863 жыл бұрын
this is just my 2 cents but I used the top wiper blade removal to get to the battery. I think it was easier. Thxs again Ralf. much apprecaited

Hint, disconnect the negative battery cable from the strut tower 1st on either method if it is corroded and needs to be cleaned . Then just remove / install battery with the cable on the battery.

My 2014 Ford Escape's battery went bad/failed a little over the three year mark. Now it's 3 years since the battery replacement and my radio is starting to shut-off pretty fast to conserve the battery if I try to listen to it with the engine off (just like last time!) so I know it's time for a new battery. Reeeeally wish Ford had a better engine design to make this change easier. Other than that, I still love the car.

It is a toss up these days non of them are roomy like it used to be. I remember back when you could sit in the engine compartment to work on your truck LOL

But based on the time it took on the video now you will know if they are trying to overcharge.

Ok so I changed my battery today following your video. My problem after I started back up and followed my book on running it to allow it to reprogram is when I started driving it I quickly discovered I don't have any power steering. Have you had this happen after changing the battery?
@ralfsautomotive4 жыл бұрын
There is a bulletin on a harness problem related to the Power Steering Control Module(PSCM) Make sure that a Wire did not get damaged.
@glendaclem48074 жыл бұрын
Yes mine is getting ready to die . Its been over 5 yrs. I only have 5,000 miles on it .
@mikel45104 жыл бұрын
You do NOT need to remove the reservoir, cowl, or anything else except the battery, air filter & box, and hold down clamp. Move one wire harness. The entire process takes less than 30 minutes including resetting the BMS. All that other BS is just another way shops crank up what they charge customers.

Great video for a terribly designed car on battery placement.
@gl3605 Жыл бұрын
By far..I'll say it again.. BY FAR removing the wipers is the easier way. Yesterday I changed the battery and had everything back together in under 30 mins. It was so easy I'm thinking of starting a business just replacing Ford Escape batteries, lol. DO NOT REPLACE THE BATTERY THE OTHER WAY...you'll wish you never started it.

Worst design of battery placement I've seen in my life and I've owned 25 cars in mine ...so far 😊
