I really love cask mentured beers from time to time. Its amazing, what age can does to these. I've cellar some like wine. I have for example some 2004 vintage bottles, and they then to get even better, now reaching allmost these twany caracteristics like from Port or Sherry. They get more concentrated like it would happen in destillation, but very, very different. Another perspective to Malt and other key ingredients of Whisky actually.

Innis & Gunn do a Laphroig cask aged beer.... slightly more widely available but there are some absolutely tremendous dark beers out there. Just a shame they give me the most appalling migraines so I don't drink them often :(

I’ve been really enjoying Vocation’s barrel aged stouts recently; at around £8 for a 330mm bottle they’re pricey, but in my opinion they’re worth trying

Love this on-the-spot interview Ralfy, this one was nicely done. Very interesting stuff from the brewers. If I had the resources, I'd age some 100% malted corn new-make in there. Since I live in a 3A climate zone in the US (close to 4A), I'd lean toward 4-5 years.

Wow, that looks good all the way over here in Canada. The closest I get is Innis and Gunn and they do two very good wooded ales, Original and Caribbean Rum Cask both on sale at The Liquor Control Board of Ontario beer and wines stores. Having said that Craft Beer is very much alive over here.

I no longer drink the beer from legacy breweries here in Canada. There is a raft of micro breweries to choose from these days.

Maybe an idea for a small series at some point. Beer/malt pairings. The old "hauf n' hauf". Was over in Oban last week and enjoyed a pint of Export alongside an Edradour. See how characteristics of each drink complement one another.

Beer in the USA is trash. In the late 80s early 90s we could stand with the best, but the larger companies bought out the small breweries and mothballed them.

Well, we are suffering hipster hopps addicts ruining the beer scene with overly sweet and overly hopped beers. Balance is gone, it’s all about high ABV to get them drunk and weird styles and designs to catch the attention of the childish America mind. 🇺🇸
