When I first realised that whisky could be great, me and my son spent a small fortune on Springbank 18 yr, 15 yr and 12 yr cask strength to go on a two week family glamping trip around North Scotland to places like Ullapool, Durness and Inverness. I am from Fife BTW. This was in 2013 in a large tent and all the gear, but I swear that the memories of sitting around a fire with whiskies such as these, epic sunsets and beautiful Scotland to look at will be part of my life memories as a die. That small fortune is now a huge fortune now so will probably not happen again. Ralfy still steers me in the right direction to get the more affordable alternatives though. My favourite channel on KZbin!

Ralfy spelled it out don't become a slave to your drams and libations but rather enjoy them in moderation for what they are. How do you keep it so concise. We know you don't shill or pander. Love your stuff and know you will give us the good stuff. I did find some good stuff in the states. It's a colorado single malt. It has character of true scotch. It satisfies the itch and i know it's quality. Local malt, locally distilled and aged for it's time. I wish I knew if it wasn't chill filtered or color added, some touches are not all the way. Ralphy you have educated us as to what is a preference and priority. Cheers It's rootshoot whiskey. Produced by vapor distillery. I contract work for rootshoot, doing the automation. Tasting it i stand way back and criticize it hard. It's a fair product. If i could find springbank, arran or deanston i will buy it, but currently it's not around here. I will not give money to the bigger inconsistent not worth it companies ever again. If you don't recommend it, it'll never be on my shelf, in my mancave.

Hoping to get a bottle of Springbank this time next year for my 40th. In my part of australia, scalpers corner the market, where entry level bottles are going for $350, anywhere up to $5000+ for older variants. What a great spot! I love any person or company making a product with the mantra that an old boss told me, when I was working in a photography studio. "Good enough is not 'good enough'". Meaning, if at any point you need to think or say to yourself "that's good enough". Then it clearly isn't. Scrap it and do it again.

Hi Ralfy, what a great celebratory video. Thoroughly enjoyed all 1 - 5. However, I couldn’t fail to notice the Springbank employees situation. It looks like they are in buildings of asbestos walls and roof. Are they having the condition of these buildings monitored? More significantly, given the age of these buildings, have Springbank built a “sinking fund” to cover the costs of removal of the asbestos in the foreseeable future and reconstruction in safe materials? I ask because until my retirement 2 years ago I was an asbestos surveyor for the last 12 years of my career. Nick from York

Springbank 15 is my dream spirit. I had one bottle only so far, and then I went through 50+ other age stated bottles from all possible areas and taste profiles through years and through some samples, but Springbank whiskies are still on top of my list of those that I will stick to in my older days. I remember I was underwhelmed by Springbank 15's clean profile at first, but then I really enjoyed it when there was half bottle left. And it got better till the last drop: its clean aftertaste. I also like Hazelburn 10 with its wet hay note twist. Whiskies that I will keep on the shelf for days to come are Hazelburn 10, Springbank 15 (and possibly one bottle of Springbank's intriquing finishes), Lagavulin 16 (gentleman's whisky), HP16 Twisted Tatto (Rioja finish), Ardbeg An Oa or Corryvreckan and Dewars 32 blend to satisfy the rich dark fruit taste. If I really had to narrow it down to Top 3, it would be Springbank 15, HP16 Twisted Tattoo and An Oa. Of course I also like AnCnoc 18 (I am on my 2nd bottle now), Kilkerran 12 (3rd bottle is gone) and I enjoyed Bladnoch 10 (3 or 4 bottles, all gone) a lot, and I am aware of Port Charlotte and Laphroaigs, of lowlanders etc., but at the end of the day all man really needs is one outstanding clean profile whisky (SB15), one crazy good wine finish whisky (Twisted Tattoo) and optionally Lagavulin or milder Ardbeg or fruity sherry dram (I prefered Aultmore 13 Sherry cask DT to Glendronach 15, and Glednronach to Glenallachie) or something dirty sherried as Glen Garioch 15. I drink slowly, onley twice a week or so, and in small amounts, but when I do I enjoy what I found out to be the best.
