I was just researching this Ralphy as it’s on special from Australia’s main drinks chain. ($198 Aussie Shekels vs $220 from my preferred supplier.) It’s a great price for a quality 21 year old in Oz. I though you may have done a review and as usual, I loved it and respect your advice. I may have had a bottle over the years as I enjoy Glenfarclas and love their labelling. (Looks very ‘Penfoldish’ in font and style, or the other way around.) Thanks again and best wishes from Tasmania.

But in an age in which so many of our cultural institutions are so corrupt (on the take, industry-funded, staffed by hyper-literal & unimaginative number-crunchers) it's become our reality. Glenfarclas is such an awasome distillery! An the price is just great. You cant beat that! I always have the 105. 15. 21. Home. Next will be the 25yo its so awasome around winther time.. You can Even get a 30yo glenfarclas. For the same price for most 25yo cost. Sometimes some 25yo cost way more.. Even their 40yo isent that bad om price either

I kick myself when I remember passing on a 25 year old on sale for $120 a few years ago at Total Wine @2018/19. Now it’s past $200 and never looking back. Same as the Glendronach 21. Passed on it twice at @ $115 & 140and now it’s well past $300! Lesson learned. I’ll be buying a Glendronach 21 yr old at $110 before inflation blows this older whisky far away from my purchasing power once again.

I've only just tried the 12 - this one is a bit out of reach in terms of sourcing and price when I can find it. The 12 is so nice - I'd love to move up in age. 15 will be next, I suppose.

PNWesty For what it's worth, I honestly like the 12 more than the 15. Don't get me wrong, the 15 is good. But the 12 has a certain appeal to it, which, for me, is how it demonstrates the quality of Glenfarclas's new make while simultaneously showing the quality of their sherry casks. The 15 and up lose that interesting crossroad. I had a chance to try some of their new make from a brand ambassador here in Taiwan, and Ralfy was right, it has a n underlying sweetness that makes it worth trying. I hope you get a chance to try the new make and the older expressions, too.

Here is a whisky nosing and tasting note for you Ralfy, kaki-no-tane, which literally means persimmon seed. It's a common bar snack in Asia, made from rice, molded and shaped into the shape of, well you guessed it, a persimmon seed. Taste some if you can find it at your local store. I think you will be surprised (pleasantly of course).

For me, the 21 year old is not on the same level as the 25 year old. 21 year old is nearer to the 15 in my opinion.

I was hoping you would say a second in the glass for every year in the cask!. Ive had the Marks & Spencer 2003 bottling of Glenfarclas a few years ago. Remember it being quite nice. They do a 12 and 15 year, not sure where whether to skip the 12yo and try the 15yo. Am I missing anything special by skipping the 12yo? Cheers

Low mark Ralfy...low. Even though I prefer lately rum over whisky.....still, Talisker 18, Lagavulin 16 and Glenfarclas 21 are my favorite whiskies. In my opinion, it deserved at least 90 but we are all different aren't we?
