Man, those rums look and sound amazing. Discovering jewels in the rum world is really interesting. While ago my brother bought me Ron Esclavo XO Cask 23 Years Old (65% ABV) by 1432 World Class Spirits and it was absolutely delicious stuff; heavy, dense and complex rum full of fruit and chocolate complexity. Highly recommend it.✨

Ralfy. I went out looking for one of your recommended rums after you did a rum review some 3 years ago.I only managed to find the Appleton Estate 21 and bought that, even though it was 420 shekels (around £93). I really enjoyed it and my son-in-law, despite not liking whisky at all, does enjoy this. I might try the 12 Year Old Appleton next but am put off by the screw cap.

theres something really fascinating about rum. its on my radar but the few ive bought so far i havent got on with for the reasons you have stated such as treating a mixer as a sipper (OVD, sailor jerry) or are too weak&tarted up with sugar (diplomatico, rumbullion). smith & cross or foursquare sounds like a good place to start again.

"All over the world and beyond"". Ralfy is of course refering to the fledgling Martian spirits industry. The Northern Lowlands consists of the Vastitas Borealis, with three "bays" jutting south of that: Amazonis, Chryse, and Utopia Planitiae. The Tharsis Rise is a huge bulge on the equator associated with the three volcanoes of the Tharsis Montes. There you will find 2 rum distilleries making a distictive Martian red bronze rather ashy rum due to the low gravity of the oak cask maturation and high sulfur levels in the atmosphere. In the southern highlands, Noachis Terra is some of the most ancient terrain on Mars, the source of the name of Mars' Noachian period. Volcanic deposits in Hesperia Planum gave their name to the middle, Hesperian period. There you will find Mar's only whisky distillery, producing a naturally heavy charred volcanic minerally spirit which again goes a deep red when matured under low Martian gravity despite having no Sherry influence. Distribution is eratic being that delivery services are 33.9 mllion miles away and the spirit takes a legal minimum of 3 Light Years to mature, (Martian Spirits Standards, Regulations Startdate 217.395).

Since there isn't a huge variety of decent sipping rums where I live, I buy quality overproof rum and blend with the 80 proof stuff that is available. Blending rum is easier than blending whiskey, imo, and cheaper than scotch; where I live anyway. It's a nice break from bourbon

Comrade Ralfy, there is a new kid on the block. A Japanese newcomer called HATOZAKI. A real example of how a blended non age stated whisky could be elegant and satisfying as Hatori Hanzo's sword. This is my personal discovery and hit of 2020. Natural colour, non chill filtered, 46% ABV (that you would never feel), damn good. And all that at a normal price - 33€ here. Minimalistic but nevertheless delicate and stylish design of the label, bottle and box. As much as i know it is new on the British market and maybe this is the reason that you omitted it. I already drank a quarter of the bottle with my wife and can't stop enjoying it. Masterpiece. I am expecting your review, amigo.
