HI Ralph. I'm from the UK and I must start out by saying that most guys I mix with have never heard of you. But, a couple of friends and I of course are totally blown away by your originality, sound, and tremendous excitement you bring to the bands you perform with. There are thousands of sax players all over the planet that are technically brilliant, but nowhere as creative. In addition, thank you for being so clear & informative regarding Vandoren products. I'm gonna try out some mouthpieces and reeds you suggest. If you come to the UK, I'll get some friends to come & see you. Best wishes. John Sharpe

I liked the sound of the V16 reed the most out of the reeds. Thanks for making the video.

It's funny because those are the most expensive.

These special Vandoren cuts don’t last on live gigs- they blowout in like one night. My husband tells me that he played a Vandoren Trad. 3.5 for SIX MONTHS!!!-there’s hardly any heart in these special cuts. V21 OR D’ADDARIO Reserve are the highest quality cane with incredible reed longevity...BTW this guys core sound was on point w the Trad. cut!!

I love the Traditional No. 3's the best myself I've used them for years on my saxophones and clarinets. They have the most versatility for me and my playing style. A very solid core, a very rich bottom end and absolutely wonderful growls and edge when you need it.

I play java red reeds and they are some of the best playing and most versatile reeds I’ve ever played on and I definitely recommend them

He sounds nearly the same on all of them. I think it depends a lot on the player, how they want to sound and how they do sound. P.S.I love your playing btw

The ZZ's were my least favorite at first, but they have grown on me a ton. I love the sound!

Its better to put the assembled mouthpiece and reed onto the cork neck whilst the neck is off the saxophone. 1 Take the neck of the sax. 2. Push the mouthpiece on to the cork. 3. Position the reed and the ligature 4. Assemble the sax neck on to the saxophone 4 make any minor adjustments. This was you will never bend the neck and you will have more to hold onto when you assemble the mouthpiece and position the reed. .

Agreed, but when I'm comparing reeds, I don't take the neck back off. When I'm comparing mpc's, I leave the neck on and use his technique.

If you can, please identification of the the mouthpiece you are using with the Blue Box reed. Of course, it would be great to identify the mouthpiece used, if different, with each reed. Thanks and you have fantastic sound and I appreciate your thoughts provided with each reed selection.

Should I use the Java green 3 or ZZ 3 on my alto? Is there any large difference between the two?
@zacharyreed27579 жыл бұрын
From I what I've heard, the java greens are brighter, and more suitable to modern music. The ZZs are a bit darker, and run a half size softer. I'm not an expert on reeds, but I hope this helps.

Zachary Reed For music classic that reed is the best with this mouthpiece?
@zacharyreed27579 жыл бұрын
@Mr Sax93 Are you talking about the mouthpiece he's using in the video? If so, it's probably not the best for classical music, due to it being a bright mouthpiece with a high baffle. It's a vandoren java t45 btw.
@MrSax939 жыл бұрын
yes, i have purchase a java t45 blue for 100€ is a good price. But also ralph say's that the T45 java is good for classical :S . For the reed the green or blue are the best?
@zacharyreed27579 жыл бұрын
Your best bet would be to use the bluebox or the V12. Hope this helps.

adrian Llewellyn if you're an absolute beginner I would recommend Rico or royal for a while because most of the vandorens are super expensive and you will likely chip them early.

That should be the first thing you learn to do on an instrument.
@Seaka855 жыл бұрын
If you had watched until the end, there was a brief demonstration of putting the reed and mouth piece together and then on with tips in not bending the neck. Try searching for a video on assembly, care and maintenance rather than reed comparisons.
