If America can be proud of anything it is the musical talent she has in abundance and of such variation and style. Bluegrass is one of the world's most beautiful yet underappreciated genres of music and should take centre stage internationally more often. Thank you USA

This is the real music of America. Bluegrass elevates old time ballads that have existed for hundreds of years and added flesh and blood and bone to them. It gives me a natural high to listen to it every time.

that is because it is a much older song, that eventually became an Appalachian folk song. It's been 'bluegrassified' here. I actually prefer the more traditional rendition of the song for that reason, there is a disconnect between the feel of the rhythm/embellishments, and the content of lyrics. This is pretty great though.

Patty is here, paying the utmost respect to a true legend. I wonder if she knows that she's a legend herself. Damn, when she held that note, I almost fell out of my chair, and the look on Mr. Stanley's face was priceless. This video, along with the Patty Loveless/Ricky Scaggs video of Daniel Prayed, are just two good reasons why Ms. Loveless is THE best country singer of her generation ... or any generation. This lady is truly something special.

One of my fave youtubes. Can't get much better than this. Thank you, Ralph, for sticking with your gut instinct to keep on going and NOT changing your style, all these many, many years. You will live on FOREVER thru your music.

Saw Ralph and Patty sing this at Mountain Stage a few years ago. It was awesome to see legends perform live.

I think it's awsome that there is almost 1/2 mil hits on a song with a bunch of good ole country folks singing....Americana at its best too!

Patty is drop dead gorgeous, and still is today. The two best bluegrass voices of all time in my opinion. Patty and Ralph (RIP) - doesn't get any better than that. Patty has been my favorite female country/bluegrass singer for over 3 decades. She looks like she was doing a wee bit of partying that evening...

I have been a fan of Ralph's for many years..been to many concerts, but I'll tell you..when you leave a concert of Ralph's, you just feel something special. Have traveled all over just to see him perform.I have tickets for his show in Phoenixville, PA. in Nov. Not only love his music, but he is a wonderful man. They just don't come any better than Ralph. I pray that his health improves and I am very sorry to hear that he is ailing. He has the class that his generation had. Gone now.

I came to Nashville from England, several hundred years after this song did. Grew up on the Stanleys on King. Spine-chillingly wonderful music. Patty carries on the tradition, knows it and will help keep it alive, while part of Nashville has lost its way. Mountain Soul indeed.
