its not a suit jacket, its a sports jacket which is casual and meant to be worn with casual pants and shoes

@@rudimussrodelnfully aware of this, it was just a joke. As smart casual by definition is a half way mix of smart and casual 😂. Saying that a sports jacket is not normally worn with a button down shirt and tie though so that again is a weird mix in my humble opinion.

⁠well a button down shirt is a rather casual shirt as well as his club tie is a rather casual tie. The sports jacket is casual and the jeans too. All in all everything in his outfit is casual in a sophisticated way. Which is what he probably means as most people dress casually in a sloppy way (t-shirt, sneaker, jogging pants etc). In nowaday’s society you could still call him dressed up although by classical definition its a casual outfit for sartorial people. So there is no contradiction here imo.

If this is a companion advert with Joanna Lumley afternoon tea at Ralph Lauren it fails miserably. The photography was irritating constantly switching scenes tiring the eyes. And then this man so badly and shabbily dressed talking about himself, a huge no no. Who on earth OK’d this catastrophe ?
