thank you for the info mate. I just hit 100K on my Ram 1500. I wasn't sure about the Anti--slip and Limited Slip but the build sheet check internet site you posted saved the day. I downloaded a copy for my onboard manual. Thank you again.

Amsoil and valvoline sell the nozzle tip pouches.. it's an easy job with that option.

The last few differentials I've done I've been buying Valvoline gear oil. It now comes in a quart size bag which is great for getting in tight spots when refilling.

Would you think that red product around the drain plug might be red thread lock as opposed to rtv sealant?

Likely not, as red locktite is very strong, not meant for plugs that have no stress and need to be removed on a regular basis

Just to add to the already given evidence that it's not red thread locker...When red tread locker drys and if it can be removed, the treads will have a white residue and not retain it's red color...cheers🍺

It's probably pipe sealant used for gasoline and oil called Gasoila. We use it in the marine world for pipe threads on fuel systems and oil systems. It gets hard and can even be applied to the threads and allowed to dry before installation but can be used wet also. Sealing tape will also work well in this application. The factory probably applies the sealer long before the plugs are installed. In my mind the biggest reason to use anything on the threads is so the plug doesn't need over tightening to seal but will seal and not vibrate out and can be easily removed.

Shouldn't you loosen fill point 1st? Hate to drain if you can't fill.. Great job though brother!

Be a man. Drain it first. Only woman have trouble loosening the fill plug. If the fill plug is bound up, drill and tap a new fill hole.

No but it was awkward to refill. I should have looked for differential fluid in a bag or something more flexible. Just need to take your time filling.

I don't think you need the additive with the limited slip labeled gear oil. It already has it.

I think you are probably right but wanted to be cautious about affecting the clutches by not having the aditive.

YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK THE ANOUNT ON THE ADDATIVE, MY MANUAL CALLS FOR A VERY SPECIFIC AMOUNT OF OUNCES NOT THE WHOLE BOTTLE….

Never do drain plug first…..and should of dumped the additive first….use the bags…

Most definitely void warranty if your dif fails and it’s learned you used to the wrong weight gear oil And you still struggle to fill. I suggest a bag of oil. And the tube on the bottle is the easiest. But you only need a hose on it 4-6 inches long. It’s a breeze. Your hose was way to long.

If you are gonna go by mopar recommendations then you should have used mopar brand gear oil.

True but as long as the fluid you buy meets the Mopar spec then other 3rd party fluids are fine. Similar to motor oil.

Gear oil, like motor oil only need to meet an API GL standard.
