I had a 2014 2500 with the 6.4L and 4.10 ratio axles. I hauled a 12,000 lb (loaded) 37 foot 5th wheel all up and through the Canadian Rockies and it did a great job. That from a guy who had 2 tuned 5.9L Cummins powered trucks before the Hemi. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. However....I might wait for the rumored 7.0L (426 cu in) Hemi gasser they are supposedly coming out with. On the 6.4s....the 373 axle trucks get a 12k tow rating, moving up to the 410s get it into the 15k range. 3000 lb difference so if you plan to tow, get the 4.10 ratio axles.

So I've had 6.4 HEMI 2500s since 2016 being my first truck was a Tradesman CC 4x4, they are really nice trucks even the base model that I first had. For the time I had that it was equipped with the said engine and 3.73 ratio not the best vehicles for fuel economy but on highway speeds its managed to go 17MPG but a complete gas hog in city driving no matter if its a 3.73 or 4.10 ratio you have on it. DO I like it? Yes, I sure could have used the 13,000lbs tow rating it had but I never did lol. Since 2017 I've been in a 2500 Power Wagon with the same HEMI and premium ratio (4.10), what an awesome combination, the classic big rig styling, the factory hardware a Power Wagon has compared to any of the closest gas powered 3/4-ton offerings from the competition is mind blowing. For a truck this size, its actually comfortable and the HEMI given its slightly quieter than the 5.7 you can still hear some rumble on it. I replaced the stock air intake on mine an aftermarket CAI (S&B) and what a difference it makes. While it doesn't have the leafspring rear suspension Ford and GM still uses it makes up for a more refined ride and articulation thanks to that link coil rear suspension. I could drive other brand trucks but its in RAM 2500s that I enjoy it more with old world features i.e solid axles, manual t-case, big V-8, the column shift transmission I mean this truck has just the right balance of technology to it that still makes you enjoy owning and driving it vs other vehicles with all these features that takes away the fun. On a final note, the "eco" mode on these 6.4 HEMI equipped trucks is nice only on long distance trips because otherwise they will just chug on gas no matter what. Love it. Hate it. It's still one nice truck!

I tow both a gooseneck and fifth wheel with my 2015 Ram 2500 with RamBoxes. I have a B&W gooseneck hitch installed with the companion fifth wheel. I shaved the pin box on my toy hauler to match the lines of the fifth wheel hitch so it continues the angle all the way back towards the end of the pin box. This doesn’t affect the integrity of the pin box because the lower two holes weren’t being used anyway. I’ve never had any issues with the fifth wheel trailer hitting or contacting the bed rails even in off camber maneuvering.

My Goodyear Wranglers were trash too - all the manufacturers put that garbage on their trucks, soft sidewalls and soft-rubber = quiet/smooth, but zero durability, especially when towing. I really like the Hemi better myself too, the real world difference between the Cummins and the HEMI wasn't worth it for my purposes - marginal fuel economy improvement versus big hit on the maintenance cost compared to the HEMI. Clanky tractor sound versus HEMI stock car with the resonators on the back of the Longhorn.. I didn't intend to get the Ram Box, but the max-tow version I was looking for was "found" with it - and to be honest, I love it, will never be without it. I'm a little concerned about future towing with a fifth wheel setup compared to the 30 foot travel trailer I tow right now -but it looks like it won't be a problem, just couldn't do something silly like park it in a sharp turn and then try to open the things.

You were obviously doing the video right at the period there in 2019 late just before Covid. I've seen a few others in videos from then and that was likely the very best time to have ever bought one period. As you note the incentives were great, even MSRP was great on that at what 60ish? Amazing. In fact it might be interesting to do a video where you do a comparison between as close a build in a new one compared to then and price, differences. It has been interesting to note the "ratio" of console units to bench seat units since. I"m pretty sure they have flipped since 2019... I used to have a hard time finding a console back then, now no problem at all.

That piece is actually a completely separate item that screws in from the back with three screws. For a more aggressive look, you can remove these piece from the wheels and they look AWESOME! I did that with mine and, in addition to installing black lug nuts in place of the chrome, it looks just different enough to set it apart. Great video- one thing I’d edit is the Ram HDs don’t have locking diffs (except the Power Wagon) they actually have LSDs. I believe Ram put “4 lock” on the knob used to select drive as a marketing gimmic so customers assume it’s referring to a locked differential, when in fact it’s stating “locked in 4 wheel drive.” This has always been the one feature I’ve been waiting for before taking the plunge. I’m hoping a electronic locking differential is part of the 2020 refresh.

Hello there Big Truck! That’s exactly how I would have a Ram built if I wanted to spend that kind of money on one vehicle, but being a two vehicle household? That’s just too much money! Soon when my lease runs out on the Colorado we have, I want to either get one very nice truck like this one, or a HD Chevy or SD Ford, depends on the bottom line of what I find. I’d love to order exactly what I want, not just need, but you loose any sizable discount and unless I cannot find a 4x4, with the minimum of what I need, that’s what I’ll do is find a truck that has 90% of what I need, like 4x4, light colors for the Florida sun and any type of HD towing or just towing packages. I would definitely want some type of telecommunications like OnStar w/WIFI/Nav, UCONNECT 911/SOS/Nav or whatever it is that Ford has available. I can do without chrome or fancy wheels, especially over 18”, but I hate black interiors more than I like any of the Sport Packages available that all seem to demand black interiors, that also require a mid level trim package in all the big three and even in the Titan, that has a good pricing structure, especially seeing as how their not selling so well, but they do offer what I need and have the best warranty! Anything I do end up buying, not if a lease is an extended warranty. Or if we end up leasing a very nice up level truck that I find has everything I want, then I'll also be looking for a nice used Hybrid, the one ill be looking for is a nice lowish mileage Lexus CT 200, just to use as a daily driver and keep the miles on the line as truck for our camping trips towing our travel trailer. So there's the plan man! So keep up the good work on the videos, have fun and stay safe!

Power adjustable pedals are a $145 or $195 option depending on trim level (for some reason.) So it's not as though they are hard to get.

I’m not a big fan of Rams. I do like the Ram box concept. Not a big fan of the lower 1/2 of the dash. I like dials for temp change. Bottom 2 rows don’t have a good angle. Engine is great. Info available on engine is great. Color scheme with blackout wheels stands out for sure.

I like my 2016, 3500 with a 6.4 hemi. The only thing I don’t like is the 4.10. It’s powerful yeah but it suck gas like crazy. Especially when I tow. My next truck I’m moving down to a 2500 with a 6.4 and 3.73. My cousin bought one and gets at least 4mpg more than me. Plus next gen 6.4 is paired with an 8speed so better mpg anyway. And at most I only tow 10k

That’s a tow monster with that 4.10 rear end! I wouldn’t opt for that since gas mileage really suffers.

Normal 2500s don't have locking rear diff like the competition has, instead its just an LSD and you can get the adjustable pedals as an option.
@averysenior65716 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why you would have a problem with a goose neck or 5th wheel. The width between the wheel wells are the same with or without the ram box.

Those stickers are not correct on most trucks. Best bet is to take it to a scale and get it weighed with a full tank of gas to truly know what your trucks payload is. My 1500 sticker in the door jam shows 1157 pounds however when I had it weighed with a full tank of gas it was 5892 pounds with a GVWR of 7300 pounds giving me actually around 1400 pounds of payload.
@Therealfrenchiedad5 жыл бұрын
You missed some things... There is a storage under the center seat in the front, storage bins in the rear floorboards, adjustable pedals are optional, the tow mirrors have the wide angle mirrors included. you gals have the off-road package which has hill descent assist (adjustable speed so you just have to steer down the obstacle). just some thoughts by no way trying to bust your balls.

Beautiful truck! In my opinion the exhaust could look a little better and I personally “boycott” firestone as I have not had good Luke with them so I would throw some Goodyear wrangler or some Khumo tires on there.

Are the coil springs good for travel trailer towing? My present Ram 1500 seems to have a sway problem. Add on mirror extenders are available, and work well.

I am considering a purchase of a 2016 Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi V8. The main concern is the Air Suspension in the back (auto level) vice the springs. Have you evaluated the Ram Air suspension previously? It is of a main concern especially with load and towing. Thanks in advance.
