What a timely share from the BHN Network... toward the end of the dharma talk, Dass mentions how other folks would react to the sound of fire engines at the retreat, how they'd become agitated. I moved to Los Angeles some months ago, and noticed similarly how police and ambulance sirens will blare here almost constantly. Independently of the wisdom shared here, I started incorporating the sirens into my zen practice, hearing them not as something to distract or upset me, but as an invitation back into the present moment. It's been helpful to metabolize the discomfort that comes with this new environment back into my presence. This is also a much-needed listen on a personal note, too. As a transgender person, the last few months but the past two weeks especially have felt like a waking hell. I'm trying to transmute the negativity as best I can, but it's a daily struggle. I'm thankful for my practice and the teachers that got me here, and for each of you here who can meet together in equanimity. Love of love from loud Los Angeles.

Impermanence: "Love your problems as well, one day they will be gone too." The difficulties pass. We remain as pure awareness, which is its own conditionless joy. That's the beauty of emptiness.
