Ram Pump Will an inline valve actually increase the output

The ram pump delivery pipe can get heavy when full of water. This can weigh down on the ram pump pressure tank and secondary valve. What happens when you install a one way valve in the delivery pipe half way up the hill? In this video I run a test without a valve in the delivery pipe and another test with an inline valve midway up the hill in the delivery pipe to see if the ram pump can produce more water out the top.

Seth, thanks for the test. Good to know my installed check valve up the hill to keep the water in my tanks, doesn't adversely affect my ram pump delivery.

Hey Seth, I upgraded my swing valve to a modified check valve and saw significant improvements to my flow. I increased the bolt length of the valve and added support, you can calibrate the pump to the flow by changing the open distance of the valve by adjusting a lock nut on the extended bolt. Weight can be added to the bolt if there's more flow to be harnessed. I'd love to see you try DIYing some valves and testing them.

Yes many years ago I ran this test on a hill much taller than this one. The valve seemed to help back then. On this hill it does not seem to make as much of a difference.

yes that's correct i follow your videos many years ago and i remember that

for your stream turbine, try stack of discs, plastic, as open tesla turbine, in the same box housing, same nozzles, stack disc spacing 0.5-1mm with bolted spacers. very easy to make from plastic or steel sheet, and a central axle rod, and some bolts to keep it in shape and spacing. yep even the same orientation, axle vertically up, discs horizontal spinning.

To extend the height, the ramp can push to those help greatly. But then you are also at max limits. From what I have seen other places.

I think it would allow you to pump the water higher because the inline check valve takes back pressure off the pump temporarily. Was it a 2 lb. spring or a 5 lb. spring in the valve? It might make a difference and the weaker may be better for a longer opening time.

What about the valve on the delivery pipe.... 25ft from pump and so on
