The reason is building new factories and retooling old ones for ev is expensive. Ev isn’t selling like the government said it would so they put mandates on car makers to make them anyway, their only recourse is to raise the prices of what is selling which in turn makes the vehicles people actually buy go up in price. bidens ev mandates and his war on so called fossil fuels are why our economy sucks. Do you even have a clue how the process works. The MANUFACTURERS are in control of the pricing. Yes if there's high demand they can mark up other than that they make most of their money in the Finance department. MANUFACTURER sets the prices the dealerships have to BUY everything on their lot generally through a finance company. Everyday the vehicles are on the lot it costs the dealerships $. The manufacturers screw dealerships about every which way they can and come away looking like saints because they are not who the customers see. Fords PROFIT in 2023 over 25 and half Billion, Stellantis 18.6, Billion GM 19. 1 Billion, Toyota 61.7 Billion. Tell us again how it's the Stealerships 😆. So somehow they will stay in business selling products for less than they HAVE to buy them. Sounds like a hell of a business model 👍. Maybe customers should demand the manufacturers build cheaper vehicles but they want all their gadgets that cost $ 🤔

I don't want to be seen driving that blacked-out, plastic filled excuse of a base truck, much less pay more than $50K for it. I'll keep driving the truck I currently have with 225K miles on it. You are absolutely right, all the automakers need to take a hard look at where they want to be 10-years from now, and that means they need to take 50% out of the MSRP or they might be out of business. There was no justification for keeping the 100% price increase they all took during covid and supply chain issues. They should never have agreed to the wage increases they gave in the recent contract. People couldn't afford what they were selling BEFORE that new contract. I grew up in the days when all you could buy was regular cabs with an 8 foot bed. Manual windows, door locks, manual transmissions for the most part, and am/fm radios. High end meant you had AC and cruise control with a V8 engine. To the old schoolers, a truck like this is worth about $25-$30K... These people that are going out and buying these $60-$120k trucks ruined the market for everyone else, for people that just want a daily driver that you can put to work when you need to. Not put 10 lifts on them, squat the rear ends, and put underbody LED lighting on them because it's "cool".

i have not watched past videos on pricing of new autos and the current prices. not sure if there was discussion on what affected this sudden jump? - the Cov pandemic, and supposed chip shortage was played to it's fullest extent. trucks could be made, GMC/Chevy got MPG exemption/permission to use older no chip/computer fuel systems, the other manufacturers did not. these trucks were actually cheaper - economic impact /stimulus checks, people bored and spending - banks were told to give loans to boost economy, they sorta got into same situation like the real estate boom crash where they covered loans plus market price adjustments (speculation) - PPP was over generously given out in the US, businesses popped up out of no where, many businesses added all their family members as employees, alot of fraud, there were buyers who miraculously bought cars cash. this created a boom for new and used cars. once manufactures saw what the market can pay, this established a new base. when cars/trucks started rolling it continued. buyers and loans still paying these prices in 2022 and start of 2023. once the manufacturers and dealers have experienced this new base, they are reluctant to cave if they do it will be a small percent in comparison the current price. gasoline is the simplest example, when it is $3 a gallon, then jumps to $7, the lowest after that will be $5 and immediately creeps back to $7 in a very short time.

I remember a time (mid 80's)when, on a Saturday, the dealerships were packed with people. Our local dealer used to have a Saturday Morning Special..a cheap car/truck for the early birds, they used to keep it under a car cover and would reveal it a around 11am. They would hype it up on the radio all week long giving hints as what the year and model was...the dealership had free hotdogs or pancakes....They would bring in extra staff to handle all the people and sales...Local politicians were there to speak with people, sometimes a band would play...it was a county fair type atmosphere every weekend!!!...My partner and I went to that same dealer just 3 weeks ago on Saturday afternoon...we were the only customers there. :(...there were only three people on staff...the sales manager and two sales people...the service dept was closed.

I bought basically the same $56k truck in 2013 for $36k I'm still driving it ..i just looked at a 2023 bronco with S11k in extras plus $2k mark up ..they wont budge off the price and I couldn't even take it on a short test drive ..

You can get a bronco for invoice at least for the raptor trim

Here is the problem. If you go too far down the performance pathway, it is no longer a truck but a form of race car. Which is fine if that is all you want, but why even call it a truck at that point. The biggest problem they will run into is that the solid H frame of a truck has it's horse power limit. Eventually you will have to move to a tube frame cage to accommodate the ever increasing suspension complexity and intake plus exhaust systems. A race vehicle is built from the cage up, not from the engine out. That will be the limit and then who are you really targeting? Dodges biggest problem is that they are shoving all this horse power into trucks that cannot handle it. Yes you can move the wheel hubs out a bit and put larger shocks on, but that will only soak so much HP and lower its usefulness as an actual truck. You also have the limits of the transmission. These things are designed to take only so much torque before they have to be completely overhauled to no blow up from all the power. Dodge isn't doing that, no one is doing that. They are just slapping bigger and bigger numbers on the engine while hoping the rest of the truck stays together.

chicken tax was initiated by foreign countries first, the US hit back and trucks along with some other things were in the reaction. i have relatives in Germany, they are farmers, for them the chickens are generally worth more alive for eggs than for meat. to keep it simple, when whole chickens are like at $23 and all of a sudden they appear at $5-7 the EU/UK farmers reacted, and protection tariffs/taxes were imposed. of course the US over reacted, by adding all trucks from EU-UK, but added Asian countries too.

The chicken tax is absolutely killing affordability for Americans

People were already sounding the alarm on truck MSRP prices 5 years ago. I’m glad consumers are finally revolting. Prices need to freeze or drop for a few years for incomes to catch up.

I picked my co-worker up from a Ford dealership on Friday & they had so many trucks that they had to park them everywhere and it was hard to drive through their lot. They had about 30% more trucks than the RAM dealer next door, the Chevy dealer across the road had very little trucks on it's lot. I thing the big 3 are all in the same situation, they all have a lot of over priced trucks.

Unless a truck looks like it isn’t street legal, it probably isn’t really an off road truck. And where are these people driving “off road”? 😂
@BillLaBrieАй бұрын
The Costco parking lot is, in a sense, “off road.” So there’s that.
@ogles824Ай бұрын
These prices need to come down to pre 2008 levels which would lower the prices around 70% roughly. You’ve got to remember the UAW retirement bailout was already cooked into the price before all these current price hikes. They should have long since sold enough vehicles to cover that cost. There deal seems to be if they keep the price hikes in place the consumers will eventually adjust to it. The problem with that thinking is they’ve literally priced them to the point we; the consumers, have completely quit looking. I know someone that bought a 3/4 ton pickup recently that could easily afford what they cost before 2020. They knew they couldn’t afford it but just decided to do it anyway. Three months after the purchase they took it back and told the dealer that couldn’t afford it.

Both dealers and banks are greedy !! They should do more rebates and etc and fix these Outrageous Prices!
