I have a question I’m just curious. Do people in Istanbul fast? I mean I know most of them are Muslim and some wear hijab but are they practising Muslims and pray? And are the food places etc open during the day. I mean how is it in general ? Like do all students in uni fast in ramadan?

@@saverasavera3652 Hello :) I hope to give you the right answer, but I am sure that my opinion can differ from someone else’s, who lives in Istanbul too and maybe has a different perspective. I think that it depends on the person, if he is religious, conservative and traditional or more secular. For example, there are certain society groups, that think that it’s “not cool and not modern” to fast or pray and they can even laugh about it (even though they consider themselves Muslim), I’ve had several situations like this at uni. My guess would be that it’s 60-65% fasting in Istanbul. Cafes and restaurants are still open during the day, you can get street food like simit, roasted corn and others too. Have a blessed Ramadan 🤍
