This explanation is still suspicious to me , there is nothing like some other type of summation, its just like analytical continuation, NMS sir's point was , the proof mostly people use to prove it is absolutely incorrect.... Before using "=" sign please first check whether its a number or not ... And after some basic divergent, convergence tests , we can see that 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7.... is a divergent series ... So we cannot use "=" this symbol in eqn ..... But then how we got -1/12 , its like defining something with something else to elongate the domain .... For example Factorials was only for wholes but then using some other definition we got our gamma function ...... Similarly we first define zeta in some other way and then substitute x=-1 , and got -1/12 This video's explanation was suspicious to me because.... you just said bunch of terms and didn't explain them ..... Saying heavy terms and then saying that " we cannot understand the genius's notebook " makes no sense ...... Thanks for reading.... Thank you for watching this video... The very purpose of this video is to rectify the words of NMS sir not to prove him wrong about his intelligence. He said, "galatiyan ho jati h sabse, ramanujan se v galati hui". That was the point I was discussing. Ramanujan was absolutely correct in his own sense. You analysed very well that people use normal "=" sign and then fascinate others about that the sum of infinite natural numbers is -1/12. We all know it's incorrect. It's an entirely different thing that NMS sir has probably missed it or what, I don't know. I didn't explain them in depth because of the video length however I put three links and mentioned them in the video. If you are curious about it. Just have a look over them. You will come to know. If you want a dedicated video on this... Let me know Actually the whole controversy was because of the Numberphile's video about ramanujan summation. (May be, because I found his video circulated all over the internet. Sone other persons might have contributed in this misinformation due to misinterpretation) Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback...
