I thought for a moment you had found my dad’s old goat. 3 boys and a dog driving across country outrunning a tornado. Memories. One time, when my dad was overseas, my mom wanted to learn to learn to drive. When the instructor pulled up with a little sedan, she said “I don’t want to learn to drive that, (points to the goat) I want to learn to drive that”. Instructor got a big smile. I will enjoy watching this one.

I had a green 68 GTO just like it except tan colored interior and top. 400 cid, 4 speed had to be one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever driven. Big enough to cruise well on the road and small enough to be perfect in town.

My 2nd car after sharing a vw with my sister was a 69 GTO 4 spd ragtop. Paid $225 for it off my sisters boyfriend. Dumbass tightened the rockers up too much and punched a hole in a rocker. Cheap fix. Ram Air 4 spd 4.33 posi. Burn all 4 gears. You could watch the gas gage drop! Parents made me sell it cause the neighbors complained about he tire smoke smelling up their houses. Probably a $100K car today.

I have always wondered about the mindset of a person(s) allowing a 1969 GTO sit for 38 years rotting away. I've owned and restored several GTO's and I always think to myself, the thousands of dollars people forfeit on by allowing this to happen. Great sample, looking forward to the restoration.

Hello guys! My hat is off to you on this project. I owned a 69 Judge Ram Air IV., and a Borg Warner T-10 four speed. After I got out of the Navy. I loved that car so much. I still to this day, dream about still owning it. Like a dumbass, I traded it in for a new Pontiac Gran Prix SJ. I got only $1500 for it in trade. If I could go back in time, that would have never happened. Good Luck and keep us posted on the progress. Thanks and Cheers from Motown.

Growing up near Seattle we had a neighbor who bought a brownish gold one brand new. It was just the basic lemans but they parked it out back in the early 80s and let it rot away. When they passed the daughter got it and they were able to get it running and driving again good enough to sell it. It was in terrible shape with holes rusted below the back window and moldy shredded interior.

My oldest brother loves Pontiacs. He liked the Bonneville and Grand Prix and probably had 5 back in the mid 70s. His 66 Grand Prix he probably paid less than a hundred dollars for. Great car. When I was still working with old cars and they had frozen brakes the solution I eventually came up with for getting them into the garage was building a 3" diameter x 14" long roller with bearings holding it in an I beam frame ( 20" long) that was bolted (with 8 bolts per side) to the concrete floor under the workbench on the front wall. I would run a long tow strap from the car forward going around the roller then back under the car and out the other end which I would hook to a hitch on my truck that kept the tow strap at near ground level to prevent damaging the underside of the car. It worked great and handled the dead weight of a 57 Caddy with ease.

I had the very same door issue with my 69 and like you I thought something was damaged. I ended up taking the door panel out with the door shut to get access to the latch. Not something I would want to do a good door panel. It was a lubrication issue with the latch. A small metal part needed to drop once you pushed the button in. Once lubricated ... it worked fine. Knowing this now ... I might have tried putting something on the door that vibrated to see if that tab would drop.
