Brings me back to being sixteen. Typical broke teenage hotrod hop up was short dual exhaust with glasspacks and turndowns before the rear axle, B&M Megashifter, and then go put aluminum wheels and BF Goodrich radial T/A's on the line of credit at Schwabbies! Good times!!

I really appreciate this video I have been scramblin around trying to figure out how to use these things before I actually buy one and this video helped me make up my mind. I was comparing this with a hammer shifter to see which will work better. I have a 92 caprice. And i am installing a transpak shift kit with extras.

Love the bark going into second. He is lucky to have a dad like you. Watched the videos of the swap. I had an 85 t/a. Hopefully that car will treat him well, I had a mishap on the highway and unloaded gas into the secondary and it caught the fireproofing on fire and fully engulfed before I could save it. Keep the vids coming of her.

I had one of these and also a Hurst Lighting rod shifter, they did make them for the 1970-1981 F Bodys and stopped making, Hurst Oldsmobile is the other stock car with the Lighting rods, I've also had the Dual Gate his and her shifter, this was the era when they were making alot of stuff for the Camaro and Firebirds.

When you are upshifting, you can just shove it forward while it's still floored. Obviously, I would let off the gas if you ratchet it down to a lower gear.

@@Alex-pj8eu yeah a stock shifter doesn't lock when you're bumping from first to second to third gear like the ratchet shifter does so you use your normal shifter and when you accidentally go from first to neutral and lose the race I'll be laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤘

I wouldn't recommend shifting a stock automatic manually all the time. Our trans is beefed up substantially to take the abuse. Even so, we'll just put it in Drive and let it shift on it's own most of the time. It's fun to shift it manually occasionally though.

@eric Monaco Those race cars have what's called a stall converter, it prevents the car from launching until it reaches a certain rpm.. For example like a 2500 stall. The reason they use them is to get the car up to that rpm level which is their can/torque range.. Its like launch control.

so it doesn't shift from first, second, to drive? if so, you could have a manual valve body in it. shift it down to first and see if it drives in first. then shift it up. if it shifts from second to drive almost immediately after you put it to drive, then it is a good chance that you have a manual valve body
@rockinbass0110 жыл бұрын
now on the 2-3 why did it have such a lag
@jordan-ramblinaround232310 жыл бұрын
My transmission kick-down cable wasn't adjusted right at the time so it was holding the gear longer.

I got a transmission shift kit installed (pain in the fucking ass and nerve wrecking) on our 700r4 trust me. ours does not pull like that, i would outrun that car in no time with no lag.
@coltsc10s816 жыл бұрын
Not sure about his setup but if I say go 2-3 but I do it too early. Where the rpm's aren't high enough it will lag because it really shouldn't be shifting yet. But say I have it at 3-3500 rpm, it will bang into gear immediately
