Rambling is pleasant to me because it feels relaxed and natural. The appeal is not so much what is said, but what is felt--a familiarity, ease and comfort created by unrestricted wordflow.

What a nice chatty video - I watched while sipping my coffee and collaging a bit in my own journal and it felt like sitting with a friend for a journal session. :) Firstly, your childhood journal...absolutely precious!!! What a treasure! Secondly...like you I move between journals and covers a bit when I feel a lack of inspiration. That said, I have fallen in love with the size of the standard traveler's notebook too, but am also not a huge fan of the stapled or even some of the sewn binding inserts, because I like a bit of a thicker journal to move into and go through those thin inserts too quickly. So...my solution has been to have regular A5 notebooks with paper I love (stalogy, tomoe, etc) cut down to standard size. I have done some myself with a craft knife, but it's even easier to pop into a Staples and have them do it with their nice sharp machine blade. :) As long as it's a soft cover and not a hard cover, it's a snap! Sometimes they do it for free since it's just one cut, but even when they charge for it it's usually less than $2 or so per notebook. For me, it's been the perfect marriage of the size I love paired with the larger more substantial notebooks/paper I adore. The stalogy half year is also a really nice option to have cut down to standard size inserts, if you prefer a thinner option. :)

How neat!!! The first day of your first journal, 3-24-89 is the birth date of my second daughter. So while you were writing in your journal I was having my 2nd babe. I love that so much! Also, keep playing tunes for us and rambling… i love to know the history of my favorite KZbinrs. You are so talented and interesting to me so yes please keep rambling and telling us about you! Also, i would love to know what you write in your journals. I won’t keep a journal as much as i would love to because 1) i don’t know what to write and 2) I’ve had a few people invade my privacy with past journals and now i don’t dare start writing for (PTSD) fear of someone reading my private thoughts. Lame i know, but hey, i need to figure out how to get over it i guess. 🤷🏼♀️

Please - ramble more! What books do you read? Do you have any strategies for how you journal? For example I'm obsessed with photography so I take a photo and write a page, free flow thought, inspired by that photo. Do you do anything like this? Do you have a favorite writing spot? How did you develop such stunning handwriting? Have you studied art? You are a fascinating person and I think a lot of us want to know more behind the journal stories. I just bought a desperate journal...was running out of pages and didn't have a backup so I ordered one online, nice thick paper, shouldn't be any issues with my pens. But when I got it and sat down to write this morning - well - so have you ever had the experience of starting a journal that you don't like and have to decide if you can keep writing with that unsettled feeling? Do you re-assign it? I'm thinking of starting a practicing log with it and I just ordered my standard LEUCHTTURM1917. My local Barnes and Noble (where is Borders when you need them?) no longer carries them in various colors.

Ya I feel that. Violin is one of those tricky instruments where you sound terrible until you sound great. As a guitarist, we get off easy being able hammer out some easy chords to sing along to at parties. Violin takes so much effort just to sound good. Much respect to players of orchestral instruments!
@adventuredenali3 жыл бұрын
It does make the instrument quite frustrating at times. I enjoy picking up the ukulele and mandolin to get that gratification of not sounding so awful, lol! The crazy thing is though, all these professional orchestral musicians are also constantly frustrated with their tone, and continue to work hard at bettering it.

Waaahhh I still want to adopt you!! I have been keeping journals consistently since 1969; for most of those years I had a looseleaf binder for each year. Then around 2006, I started jumping around to different types but A5 seems the best size for me. Leuchtturm 1917s for some time and now I'm addicted to Tomoe River notebooks. Pricey but I get 4 months' worth per book, Leuchtturms only 2-3 months. But they do look neat, all lined up together! I always encouraged my 4 kids to keep journals but I wish I'd done like your mom did, I love that!!! I love watching your videos!!

Baum Kuchen translates from German to English as "tree cake." There is an actual cake with this name that looks absolutely delicious and impossible to make.
