Had to rebuild the hinges on my 62... there is something very satisfying about the door just going "Click" and hanging perfect.. mine had like a 2" drop P.S. using those fittings was a damn good idea..

Dude! This is brilliant. I’ve welded the holes and re drilled, and welded the spots in the pins. And that worked… but having that brass in there is way more ideal. I’m doing this next time.

Cool idea Joe! I just went through something similar on my D150. I still had to slam the door after replacing the pins/bushings. Turns out the plastic on the latch was worn and jamming the mechanism plus decades worth of solidified grease. Soaked the latch in simple green, cut back the broken plastic/Teflon and the door now shuts like a new car. Both my doors also had stress cracks around interior door handle that needed to be welded. I lined the interior of the door with cheap Amazon Killmat, including between the mirror support and the door skin and where the latch rod passes close to the interior skin. My doors now closes like a Lexus and no more "sproing" noises when shut. :)

Very resourceful and clever way to repair that door hinge. I bought a bushing kit a few years ago but have never installed it yet on my challenger. I need to do that.

Hey Joe, Tim here, find u some Tap Magic.....AWESOME cuttin oil......the squeel was makin me cringe......and brass cuts SUPER fast......u drill bit needs a sharpening, but u shud find u some tap magic cutting oil....YOU WONT REGRET THE EFFORT!!!..i've used it for years, have worked in a # of machine shops, TAP MAGIC!!.....find it brother, u'll be happy ya did!!!....NEAT fix btw, which i WHY i want you to find the Tap Magic......we have a nice sized can in the shop!!

Hey there, Joe did you know that using mineral spirits is best for drilling soft metals copper, bronze? A lot machinist use this technique and surprisingly a lot don't know about it. Toolroom jibber jabber. That Ram charger is beautiful and glad you're working on it 😄😊

Good old tech...man I got three sets of hinges for Ramchagers...and yeah the one I drive driver side lower needs done but I can't stop driving it.... To fix it lol 😂... Nice work Joe.... Been meaning to fix the sagging doors on the 81 W250 since 2011. It's actually not so bad. You gotta pick up on the door handle to open um, so people think it's locked. Opens from the inside normally. Minnesota road salt is killing it slowly anyway. Probably just leave it another 13 years and reassess the situation. 🤣

Here’s a tip for you if you use brake grease it don’t attack dirt and dust like regular grease and it silicone based so it bonds to the metal.

Did you have to take the fender off to remove the hinge? My drivers side door drags, i did the pin kit and it hasnt helped

@@natehull7221 no sir I did not. The inner bolts were behind a plastic plug, behind the kick panel. The outers were accessed with a ratchet wrench and a 1/4” drive swivel socket 9/16”
