Wow! It takes cutting and blocking wood to a whole new level! And here I am manually carrying my wood into the huge carport, stacking it, and getting set up for round number 2 with the little log splitter i.e. relatively speaking about the size compared to the one above! Looks like a lot of the tree is not wasted...from an environmental point of view. I still wish solar panels were the prime choice for power. Thanks for the video :) Meg Gaudet, Quebec & Prince Edward Island

Seems to be especially suitable for trees felled by storms which are a nuisance, and there is no shortage of material to process!

I wonder how they handle the last 4-feet of log? Neat idea though.

It's a removable implement designed to use when the excavator isn't being used for other jobs. If you look at the way it's attached, you can see the retaining pin. The saw on this thing absolutely sucks though. Most equipment these days have multiple use attachments that can be used when the equipment isn't being used for it's primary use. We have a rubber wheel loader that has a grapple claw attachment for unloading log trucks, fork blade attachment for loading flatbeds and a pusher pole attachment for moving stuff (it's like a dozer but sticks out further). All of these with only one main frame body instead of having to buy a knuckle boom loader (log trucks), fork lift (flatbed) bucket (chip truck) and pusher (dozer).
