The latest episode of The Invincibles Series with Arbaaz Khan Season 2 features ace filmmaker Ramesh Sippy. During the heartfelt chat, the director recalls starting his journey with Andaaz and how he began his collaboration with the screenwriting duo Salim-Javed. He also recalls making Seeta Aur Geeta and reveals why Mumtaz turned down the film and how Hema Malini came on board. Talking about Malini, Ramesh Ji reveals how she wore a plaster and danced on hot rocks during Sholay, a film that changed the game for him. He also reveals the film went over budget and was initially criticized for being lengthy. He even mentions having to drop Majboor to work on Sholay. Talking about casting, the director reveals Danny Denzongpa was initially approached to play Gabbar Singh, not Amjad Khan. Sippy Ji also gets candid about why Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice for the movie Shakti. Sir actually, I don’t know why I created this story for the film, because it was not my profession. But I feel, what I have created it’s gone a rock the Bollywood film industry. Actually we watch the movie and keep our review on that, like: which part of the film is good and which is not. Same like that, watched my movie hundreds of time in my imagination and I always feel it has to go with Salman sir anyhow. Arbaz, please slow it down. Its done so hurriedly. It gives impression that you are more interested in next question than Mr Sippy’s answers. You are a very good interviewer but you need to pace it out properly so that answers are lil more elaborate. Please make it longer or reduce the number of questions.
