Why so much hate? Ramin understands the story of Les Mis, he's played numerous roles in the show over his lifetime. Here he is simply singing the song, not performing as the character, Marius. Let's just just acknowledge that he sung it beautifully :)

Are people really dissing his performance?!! He sang this song differently in his own way but still beautifully!! He has a magnificent voice!
@TheNotoriousDUDE8 жыл бұрын
I think the problem was the minimalistic orchestration and the fact that there was no conductor to coordinate all instruments in a way that enables the singer to emote through shifts in his pacing. In a small band environment, you need to always stay on the rhythm so the whole thing doesn't sound odd.
@MissingSirius9 жыл бұрын
Why are people comparing this to performances where the actors are playing the role? Ramin is giving a concert here, he's not playing Marius.

This is it! You have to pay full attention to the cadence and the music and get the perfect amount of grief, passion and anguish in this song and really wring it out, it is a performance, not a mere song to be sung, Ramin, does a superb job here, you can hear the pain and passion, some singers don't inject into the performance, just sing the words and leave those listening flat, I recently heard a singer, operatically trained too, singing this and it was flatter than a table top! No interjection. I was horrified and very disappointed.

Eddie Redmayne still delivers the most emotive performance, yes his vocals might not be as strong, but the song is better understood listening to Eddie, and the emotion is incredible. I'd watch Eddie on stage any day!
@TheNotoriousDUDE8 жыл бұрын
You can't really compare Eddie's performance to the stage productions since his version was in a movie that put more emphasis on the emotions than the music anyway, but yeah, Eddie's rendition is definitely the most emotional I've seen as of yet :)

He loses himself in every song he sings it's so incredible. I honestly think Ramin does a great (if not perfect) Enjolras... so hearing him sing this song is almost like it IS Enjolras' song and he is apologizing for everything.

@dublin711 жыл бұрын
If he was just a few years younger he would have been a mindblowingly good Marius in the movie but in saying that I also think he would have been as good as Jackman or possibly better as Jean Valjean but I suppose they needed a Big Hollywood name for the role.
@ntjhnssntn9511 жыл бұрын
I think Ramin, as a high baritone, is not that comfortable singing the lower notes of this song. Unlike Hadley. But I'm a fan of them both. They are a killer combo. Valjean and Javert. Eric and Raoul. Enjolras and Grantaire.
@Ggamer50911 жыл бұрын
Um...what makes you think he's uncomfortable? They sound fine. Plus Hadley is a tenor so where's the logic that he's comfortable down there in the A,Bb,C range?
@ntjhnssntn9511 жыл бұрын
Hey calm down dude. It's not meant to hate on Ramin. He does not sound only "fine". He sounded great. Uhm, if you base it from what Ramin said, he's a baritone, so maybe Hadley's a baritone too (but I think they are tenors). I'm just saying that I think Hadley sounds better and is more comfortable on the lower notes. And Ramin is struggling, a bit I think. Plus, Hadley sounds more fierce on those lower registers. Just my opinion though! Good day, sir!
@Ggamer50911 жыл бұрын

what up with the tempo?? The songs lyrics are about a guy who survived while all his friends got blown away, not exactly a happy slappy tune and for whatever reason they sped this song up, the man can sing but the accompaniment sure didn't do him any favors

This arrangement is a bit different live, than it is in the musical itself. This struck me as minor in more spots than in the musical. Maybe it's that way in all the stage productions vs. the musical released last year. But, it was still epic and worthy of praise, Ramin is a musical delight.
