I've seen some pretty strange interpretations of this interaction from some commentors here! You are in front - you kinda have the racing line on the slight left - of course you are looking behind you(!) , it's called situational awareness. to not look behind to see where direct and present competitor is would be strange. Your competitor, instead of attempting a clean overtake decides to try and push you off left, which they do forcefully and for a prolonged period. As soon as this happens the dynamics have changed. You are no longer in a clean race, but a direct dynamic battle that your competitor has initiated. To stop being run off the road you turn back against them and they leave the hard stuff stage right straight into a pole. Wonderful, satisfying, fair - dripping with justice and life lessons. edit: OK- I've watched it a few more times now. There was a split second when the Ferrari(?) decides their left push isn't quite working and disengages by straightening up - and then the OPs car pushes it further right and off the track - but the battle has been initiated by the red car! What did the person expect? yeah just ram me mate and drive dirty but I'll keep it clean and fair no matter what. Forza is not an arena of "turning the other cheek", if you want to win. Why am I writing all this analysis over one tiny Forza incident? Avoiding work....

@@crownless5130 Defending one's position in a race is not a sign of disrespect, especially so when you're in the top 5 positions imo. It's a sign of someone's intent to win. Cutting people off is a common practice in racing games, and doesn't necessarily make someone a dirty driver unless there's more contact than is needed. Also, the Ferrari was given plenty of chances to overtake because of how many corners the video uploader botched.

You're blind. I've been in that situation. He wasn't bumping him intentionally he was trying to stay on the road not to push him off this especially happens in corners. Red car enters the corner, and the car oversteers (accidental) in the corner then the white car tries to correct and bumps red of the road. All an accident. I use my brains and eyes do you?

All the v12 cars sound exactly the same. All the v10 cars sound the same. V8's are atleast split into American and Italian V8 sounds. Inline 6s have either 2jz or BMW straight six sounds. All the inline-4 cars sound the same except race-i4 engines, which all sound the same among themselves.

@@vadenummela9353 Car sounds are mostly exhaust sound, that's where reverberation happens. You can't expect an American V8 and Italian V8 to sound different with no difference in RPM and aspiration. FH4 was rightly judged for its trash sounds, but you can't expect a game that starts with 400 cars to have all of them perfectly recorded and unique sounds. You're asking for every car to sound completely different even with engine swaps. If it was that easy to do, it would've been done already.

@@darkySp cross-plane and flat-plane crankshaft v8 engines "american and italian v8's" sound distinctly different. There is nothing you can do to make 2 "otherwise indentical" engines sound the same, if one is running cross-plane and the other flat-plane crankshafts. It changes the fundamentals of how the engine operates on such a large scale.

@@darkySp I mean, NFS Heat did a good job at doing exactly that. Granted that game has 127 cars rather than over 400, but that's still not really a small number (especially considering most other NFS games). So it most certainly is possible.

@@dominicgallagher9981 Well, there's a big difference between 127 and 400 as a start. It's not an impossible feat, but it's an unpractical one. You still need to have a nice looking open world, have all the features done and 3D scanning the cars themselves. And a lot of work goes into the way the sounds are sampled and later stitched together in-game to make it work. For 127 cars, you can do it. But it gets too slow and costly once you start with 400 cars. That's the problem with Forza games. The focus on variety and quantity overwhelms the quality aspects and it comes full-circle. I still think FH5 has done a really good job over FH4 in all aspects, but it's hard to make everything work and sounds perfect with so much stuff.

No, i thought that at first too, but it's just the way the cinematic works, going in slow motion like that. When the other players arrive, they arrive in real-time, so they appear to catch up suddenly while you are driving slowly. When they cross the line, they also enter slow motion, so they can't pass you anyways.

I don't think he was a rammer. I think this was classic Forza being Forza and the f40 guy actually couldn't see you or anyone else and was just racing. My reason for saying this was that he was right next to you at the end there after you punted him and nearly won anyways. Besides, even if he did it, doesn't mean he's a rammer. Don't act like you've never accidentally rammed someone cause every player has. Could've been just a mistake.

You are right, it does oversteer but with grip tires and some tuning in damping and center differential the car has great control. I play with all assists turned off and simulation yet the ccgt and chiron are still super easy to drive

I've only encountered one rammer in Horizon 5 online. It was an S1 Class Lobby. I had fallen behind after running into a wall early into the race, and this turd bucket in a 360 Challenge Stradale decided that it would be funny to push me wide into one corner, so the next corner I went and taught him a lesson.

I didn't expect to get more than a thousand views, but I'm glad I got 50k in just over a month. When he was behind me and could overtake me I let him overtake and steered a bit to the left. And when he could've easily passed me he instead tried to ram me thrice and only then I counterattacked him. Look closely mate, there was enough space for 2 cars when I was driving as left to the lane as I could. Edit: you can literally see his wheel turning against me when he could go straight

Lmao, yep, that's why they bothered with making collisions a tested and default race feature- to ban people when they collide! Makes sense! Lmao, your issue isn't with collisions/rammers, your issue is with the game being designed in a way that doesn't negatively reinforce bumping to your liking, and that's on you to continue to complain about that while continuing to subject yourself to it on your own accord. So maybe play Time Trials, or a different game altogether, if you're that upset by player interactivity being an element of the race? Don't think it was intentional. When you're wheel-to-wheel in a turn with such speed, it's difficult to share the road without the outside guy having to brake. He immediately centered his steering after bumping you, if he wanted to ram you, he would've kept steering.

I was think that too. It's really hard to tell though cause it's only one incident and not multiple so I can't exactly say who's fault it is could've been an accident by the other guy and this guy just punted him for no reason. It also could've been Forza being Forza and the f40, I think, maybe couldn't see this guy so he didn't know. It looks like that may be the reason because the f40 guy was right next to him at the end.

Yeah of course. 2:02 OP steer full left to let the other driver overtake. The other driver try to push him off the checkpoint mark. OP try to stay on his lane, but this doesn't work, the other driver continue to push. OP decides to push him back to not be expelled from the track. At this moment, the other driver disengage only to re-engage right away. We can think it's OP who engage him back, but look at the wheels of the other driver: He try to push OP even before the contact. And then he ate a pole. The other driver was a rammer, and OP already said it was the 3st match where the other player rammed people.

It can catch people off guard; I've been in races where people have done the same thing but then realised they've turned in too much, only to straighten up. I still have this shadow of giving the F40 the benefit of the doubt because side to side racing is kinda shitty in Horizon; I don't know if he actually saw OP's car to the left, but I reckon enough of OP's car would have been on his screen to take more evasive action. Perhaps not great racecraft from the F40, but I don't believe it was an attempt to shove him off the road (as he did end up straightening up before being knocked off road). starting from 1:55 ccgt driver started to swing to block the f40...that is illegal in real life motorsport :) based on this info, you went all in to win this race, no matter what. After the curve you stated he rammed you...au contrair...you were trying to go in his face again, you clearly steered right and then he tried to keep his track pushing left not to go offroad...but of course, he got annoyed and rammed you instead...
