Acura/Honda brake bleed pattern is the opposite. Start closest to the master cylinder. FL, FR, RR, RL. Start bleeding at the driver's side front caliper and go clockwise

Is this a flush or a bleed? two different things. Also, you got it backwards on the bleed pattern, you want to always start at the shortest line (closest to the brake cylinder) and work your way to the longest, idea is to begin pushing air bubbles out from the origin to the last exit...

Just wondering if you could get to these bleed valves without having to remove the tires? Also, I can't imagine why any DOT 3 would work any less better than the Asian Dot 3?. We know Honda does not have their own lubricant company, they just buy it and put their label on it.
@rammiq
@rammiq 3 жыл бұрын
It could be possible to reach those bleeder valves without removing the tires, but for the sake of getting better camera angles and seeing the bleeder valves I removed the wheels and tires to show everyone. As far as the brake fluid: i’ve alway try to follow the OEM manufacture recommendation and Honda has alway been particularly known to use their own fluid. Do as you so wish but I couldn’t have a good conscious if I recommended something different and an issue arose. Hope this helps!

Question. Can I just drain and fill the brake reservoir a few times over a month instead of having to bleed the system!?
@rammiq
@rammiq 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! Doing that will help clean up about 90% of the old fluid out of the system. Which is still great and easy to do. If you want full 100% clean fluid through the lines than a full brake flush is recommended but anything is better than nothing! Hope this helps!

Hi RQ WRONG BLEEDING SEQUENCE. Acura manual 5. Repeat the procedure for each wheel in the sequence shown following until air bubbles no longer appear in the fluid. BLEEDING SEQUENCE: 1- FRONT LEFT 2-FRONT RIGHT 3-REAR RIGHT 4-REAR LEFT -where are you getting the information of the sequence. You recommend to start at the REAR RIGHT FURTHEST AWAY? Why Please respond If i could attach a photo I would attach the service manual for the ACURA TL ON THE comments.

What happens if u don't bleed thr brake fluid?
@rammiq
@rammiq 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! (Keep in mind this answer is with any fluid) Fluids only have a certain life and if you don’t replace or flush them they will not work as effective as they should! Brake fluid is hydroscopic which means it absorbs water and water boils and evaporates. And we don’t want water/air in our brake fluid system.
@AnaheimDucks5
@AnaheimDucks5 3 жыл бұрын
Thnx.. I was trying to see if I just replaced enough without bleeding them out as I dont have the tools to remove my tires. Just weighing my options
@rammiq
@rammiq 3 жыл бұрын
You can do that! You can suck out fluid from the master cylinder, refill and repeat a few times but you won’t fully get all the old fluid out! But it’s more effective than leaving it! Hope that helped!

My Honda mechanic advised that there is no real reason to flush out the brake fluid unless you are changing out the brake caliper unit. The new fluid will turn dark a few miles after you drive it.
@rammiq
@rammiq 2 жыл бұрын
Yea I also thought that too! I wanted to give myself peace of mind that I have fresh fluid in my car. I've had my Acura for over 5 years and every fluid has been replaced expect for brake fluid so for the sense of "keeping everything up to date" I flushed it out! I could be wrong, but I'm a firm believer that things will break down over time, especially fluid
@Dave-ei7kk
@Dave-ei7kk Жыл бұрын
The brake fluid doesn’t “break down” under normal use but it gets contaminated by water from the air over time. That moisture causes two potential problems: 1) It can lead to corrosion on the metal internal parts like the brake pistons in the calipers and the valves and actuators in the ABS controller. 2) Moisture in the system will lower the boiling point if the brake fluid which can effect performance if the brakes get hot. Tesla techs use a test strip to dip into the brake fluid to measure how much water is in the fluid every 2 years. Then they would flush the fluid as needed rather than in a particular schedule which would probably be overkill.

As many have commented, go recheck the correct bleeding order for Honda/Acura. Per factory service manual, order is Front L, Front R, Rear R, Rear L. Remember folks, brake system components corrode from the INSIDE 1st. Just because you think "your brakes work fine" on 5 yr/45k mi old fluid, well, guess what?

Brake fluid should be replaced every 3 to 5 years. Just double check the reservoir and make sure the fluid is still a nice golden hazelnut color. If you see dark fluid it should be time to consider. But not a major problem so don’t panic my friend 😜

Yeah, who cares about a healthy braking system?! Brakes don't matter, & neither does maintenance!! My brakes "still work fine", so why should I care?! My x-ray vision provides proof that I have no internal wear, rust, or corrosion anywhere in my braking system! Yeah!!
