The bath was designed by Till and built by a guy called Iron Mike. There's a compartment inside the bath that Flake lies in to protect himself. It still gets very hot inside though so he has to stay still inside it to avoid burns. He gets put through a lot bless him. Happy birthday Chels!!

No way! I know Iron Mike...well indirectly but I met him a few times. My best friend's father is "Eisenholz Andy"(Ironwood Andy) and they're old friends. Iron Mike makes art with metal while Andy does the same with wood. I once helped Andy out with his booth at a biker festival where Mike also was there and boy the nights were rough...that isn't very interesting, but I was just pleasantly suprised to see him being mentioned, together with Rammstein no less

Fun fact: The album with this song was censored and removed from the market because of this song. Within days an album version without ITDW was released. Prices on ebay goes nuts for the first release. The song was no longer allowed to be sung at concerts, so Rammstein only played the music during the concert and let the audience sing. Rammstein went to court and sued against the ban. With success. The album was allowed to be sold again in its first version and ITDW was also played again at concerts. Thanks to that, we can now enjoy ITDW with you.

My take on it is that it's about self-harm. Most of the way through, it sounds like torture or an abusive relationship. Then toward the end, you get the line "I look in the mirror and see your face..." implying that the narrator has been referring to himself all along.

Till has no safety "rope" but he DOES have a safety boot. Look closely at this, and all live versions of this song, and you'll see he locks his right foot into a boot clamp, which pretty much locks his foot/leg to the platform.

The guy is a walking tank, he's not going to lose balance all that easily. That being said, with all the pyro on stage (I've been on Rammstein concert in first row, believe me, it's extremly hot, I reckon you need to be very fit to bare the heat on stage when the fires go up), one could easily get dizzy I would imagine. Certainly this is dangerous.

Yeah Flake is in the bathtub the whole time, the trick is that it's wider than it appears, an half of the tub has a cover so Flake doesn't get the sparks directly, by the end of the song he removes his black vest wich is also made with fire retardant properties anf he emerges as a sparkling butterFlake

Till sings "I'm hurting you". But like in many Rammstin songs, this song has a double opinion in my opinion. "You" can also mean himself. This interpretation can also be made with the line "I see your face in the mirror". This impression is reinforced because Till sometimes sings "Hear how it screams." And not "Hear how you scream" (Mirror as the keyword, does that sound familiar? - Maybe on purpose or subconsciously. Yes, sometimes Rammstein's texts are difficult to translate into another language without a lengthy explanation. PS Happy birthday.

I think the way he talks is intentional because he's dehumanizing his submissive partner. That's a core element of a lot of bdsm/sadomasochistic/sub-dom relationships. They want to be taken advantage of and talked to like they're only there for one purpose and that's to please whoever takes control. Till does it in other songs such as Buck Dich where he says "The two legged one is on all fours. I take it for a walk(like a dog). Your face doesn't interest me. Bend over" I advise not googling this, but some people...get really...really gorey with what they enjoy...blood playy and mutilation are a lot more common than people think. Some of the things he sings about in this song are not unheard of which is probably why they wrote the song

That's why I'm still brooding over the line after "You love me because I don't love you." I'm not sure it would be appealing to one person to see another as a thing. That would be more of a fetishism. Subspace feelings can be intense, but you don't share this moment with someone who doesn't care. A dehumination can be included, but it ends with the game. Fortunately, the guys from Rammstein don't speak of opinion. So everyone can create their own. Sorry for my english.

oh - the entire band is pyrotechnic certified - i think i remember Til saying that fact ... (safety measures are always taken) i saw for myself only Rammstein puts on a show at this technical level of professionalism ... 2021 they are suppose to come back to usa (not sure about it cuz of Covid) getting the entire crew & equipment into usa due to covid rules 🙄 has been challenging i would think, 2022 they will fore-sure be back in usa 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙 this is a concert worth going to 1000% seriously .... just go to their show & then you'll know wwww know 👍🏼 they sound amazing in concert ... crisp sounding & everything is planned & organized perfectly Til-Style 🤣

And I also know a lot of idioms/ phrases because I watched a lot of NBA in NBC in the 90s. ( Chicago Bulls ftw) Bad most of my English KZbin comments, I use google translator Because on the Phone / Tablet i always use speech to text, instead of typing slowly with my fingers. But SwiftKey or the Google keyboard don't seem to understand me, when I try to speak English with my German accent, so I mostly use Google translator directly and in contrast to 20 or 10 years it works pretty well. Of course I have to check it and have to change words or sentences sometimes, but overall 90% is correctly translated
