Strangely enough, English initially developed from that languages spoken by Germanic tribes that invaded what is now Britain so the link has always been there along with links to other European languages as well as Celtic Gaelic. Made me smile hearing what your thoughts were on your destiny-I'm learning German and (massive fear of crowds aside) I'm hoping to get to see the guys when they play here in the UK (fingers crossed on that one). Ich Will, currently the final song of the final encore on the tour-going out on a high! As others have already said, it's about sensationalism in journalism. The official video is a take on the Gladbech hostage crisis -hostages died, in part because of press interference . Great reaction as always, thanks.

👍👏Hey cousin, I wish you good luck with both, learning German and getting to a Rammstein concert. I was in Dresden back in 2019 and holy shit the puctures (and feelings) in my head are already comming back. What an experience, best show ever! 🤘
@rodrigosandoval12012 жыл бұрын
Why is it strange? English IS a germanic language, that over the time and the influence of French and other languages (but especially french) changed to what we have today, if you look at Old English and German you'll find that they're extremely close to each other and today's english has a lot of words and structures that are the same as in German, or very close or they sound very similar, hand is Hand in german, cat is katze, sun is Sonne, father is Vater (but the V has the F sound) and so on... it's like saying that strangely enough Spanish, portuguese, italian or french initially developed from Latin, and wonder why those languages have so much in common.

The similarity of some words to English comes from the fact that the Saxons once invaded England from Germany (Anglo-Saxons). I would even go so far as to say that English is just an extreme German dialect.

Germanic languages are naturally very similar, quasi dialects. This of course also includes the English language (Anglo-Saxons). Anglo-Saxon, term used historically to describe any member of the Germanic peoples who, from the 5th century CE to the time of the Norman Conquest (1066), inhabited and ruled territories that are today part of England and Wales.

Rammstein is popular in Germany, but they are a metal band and this isn't really mainstream in Germany. Another band like this is the Scorpions, who are (were?) a top act worldwide, but in Germany not as respected or liked as they should. As a German I absolutely appreciate your whish to learn German. The thing with the articles is really a mess. Even more, because there is no rule like in Spain, for example. But all the Germans know about that, and if it really comes to speak with German people, we won't be too strict. So, don't be too strict with ourself when you actually start to learn German. And, learning from the Fight Club, don't start in a month, don't start in a week, start tomorrow :-) Anyway I wish you lots of fun with it...

Similar words - In Anglo-Saxon the word saxon is already included and saxons were north germans. Many words in north german slang (Plattdeutsch) sound almost like english. If you can pronounce the german alphabet correctly, the vocabulary for english speakers is not that difficult. However, the german grammar is absolutely awesome. I know germans who don't speak it properly. One wrong article, verb or pronoun and the whole sentence gets a different meaning.
