The stage antics and pyro are a result of the band being afraid that since their international audiences don't understand the lyrics they'd get bored without some sort of visual show. Plus Flake himself gets kind of bored just standing at the keyboards which is why he's usually the one on the end of the shenanigans.
@svengoris64684 жыл бұрын
Hmm I think it's more or just to go that extra mile to entertain the crowd/fans and to remain the top of the top in their craft. They don't care if audiences do not understand the lyrics or German language.. real fans will at least look up the lyrics and go google translate or something... and one can sing along fonetic not?! ;)
@RepleteMeat3 жыл бұрын
@@svengoris6468 originally the pyro was used in rammstein concerts less in a "till has a flamethrower" way and more of a "bit of fire here and there way", it was brought in because Till had stage fright and they used the fire to take attention off of him, also why you'll never see Till make direct eye contact with the crowd, although it got better and now Till has a flamethrower

Actually this song is about a real Crime case in Germany - the Cannibal of Rothenburg - 2003 -Thats the reason why Till is cooking Flake. They are phenomenal indeed, but what is interesting is that they are humble. When Richard talks of their first American tour (the Family Values tour where Till and Flake got arrested for indecency in Massachutes), he says "the other bands were so good, we feel like we were trying to hide our lack of talent with a few flamethrowers". That is, of course, not what the other bands said- Rammstein left an impression even on Ice Cube, and if you want to see them at the best, find the 2016 Vienna version of Ohne Dich where the power had failed, so they sat down to improvise an acoustic version. Though Till- perfectionist and looking like his introvert self was fighting off an anxiety attack without the fire to hide his personality behind- was pissed and kept standing while singing and improvised a line of how they were nothing without power. You want to enjoy much more Rammstein, always live- except Deutschland, Deutschland you want to watch the official video off, it makes Hollywood movies pale in comparison. But at some point when you want another band with stage presence and show, look for Heilung. So metal they need no electriv guitar, but they *do* play on human bones.
@carl324 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Rammstein puts on a full blown show, not just a concert. I saw them live, and they started the show by coming out through the general admin area and the pit in kind of a procession to the stage, wearing hooded robes, carrying torches, etc. That same show also featured a giant foam cannon shaped like a penis, Flake (the keyboardist) crowd surfing in a rubber raft, and the entire band in BDSM gear crawling across a scaffolding to a secondary stage in the middle of the pit, where they performed a few songs. Not to mention all the pyro, costumes, etc. The whole thing was absolutely captivating and dark and hilarious and shocking and about 90 more adjectives.

Here's a translation of the Lyrics... Tonight I'm going to meet up with a gentleman Who has me over for dinner Soft parts but also the hard ones. Shall be on the menu charts Because you are what you eat And you know exactly what it is. It is my own part Oh no! It is my own part Oh no! There lies my own part Oh no! My own part The blows reverberating good en powerful I'm losing blood and I'm feeling unwell Do I have to battle my own powerlessness too? I continue eating while cramping up. But it's so nicely spiced with a light flambé And served on porcelain in such a loving way To the side we'll have a lovely wine and candle light I'm glad my final hour will be cultured. Because you are what you eat And you know exactly what it is. It is my own part Oh no! It is my own part Oh no! There lies my own part Oh no! My own part The screams reach out to the heavens Cutting through the angels' wings Their feathers start falling down from the clouds As it rains down on my childhood with loud shouts It is my own part Oh no! It is my own part Oh no! There lies my own part Oh no! My own part

Did you guys get the meaning of this video. and/or a translation of the lyrics? The song is about a guy in Germany who posted an ad (seriously!) if there was someone who would eat him. Yes. So, someone responded, they met, and second guy killed him, cooked him, and ate him. Till plays the second person here (hence the cooking pot, knife, bloody appearance, and flamethrower) and the keyboardist (yes, who is often on a tredmill... "I just get bored, this keeps me going") is the first person who placed the ad. Now go watch it again, and re-react :P
