I was behind the Iron Curtain several times in the 80s. In Prague you have the most beautiful women. Nightlife 24/7

There was a time after the Soviet Union where Russia and Europe and also USA and the rest of the western hemisphere seemed to get a bit closer and better along with each other after the fall of the iron curtain. A LOT of political stuff between Nato and former soviet states was going on, false accusations of both sides, they made mistakes, we as the West did too. But there was a time where everything finally seemed to look good. Sadly corruption, oligarchy and genocides in the russian world and coups from the western world and many other conflicts by us and them destroyed that relatively fast. Germany had a chancellor (Schröder) who was very pro-russian and even now he is in the lead of the russian oil company GazProm. so 15-20 years ago there was a relatively strong bond grewing between Germany and Russia and even the rest of the west and Russia. Metallicas biggest concert was right before the fall of the iron curtain in moscow, with several MILLION Russians for the first time able to openly enjoy western metal music legal and live. Everyone was hyped about all getting better from then on. Sadly then things went wrong. The guys from Rammstein grew up in East-Germany, the GDR (or DDR in germany) which was occupied by the soviet union. So they learned russian in school, the life there had some similarities to russian life. This probably made way to the band being very open to the big country of Russia and its bordering nations, former soviet states. Also, in Russia it is their second biggest fanbase after germany, the biggest concerts usually take place in germany, then followed by Moscow and St. Petersburg. It makes somehow sense they like the city of Moscow. After the ongoing conflict I myself was pretty disgusted by everything Russia did. I felt the hate grew in myself - but two weeks ago I was in Turkey on vacation - one of the only places in the world which accepts Russians for vacation without Visa. So you can imagine I met a LOT of Russians there - to be honest, most of them were just casual, nice people. Families, normal people at most. So I am still very mad about the russian government's decisions, but the ordinary russian guy is just a father like me, and in no case everyone supports what is going on at the moment. If I compare that to the history of my country, Germany - well, propaganda is a hell of a utility of a government. And I won't start about american propaganda now - this comment is too lang already and has nothing to do with the music anymore - sorry. To get to the point - this song was one of my favorites a long time - even if I don't have it on rotation right now for... reasons.

Not everything that is shown and written in the news is real. If you're interested, check out the latest videos of tourists from Moscow. In fact, Till and the band members love Moscow and Russia. Only, if they talk about it now, they will fall under the "cancelation" of the "pure, bright and kind" European and North American society. At least a large part of that society. Peace, dude! Watching your reactions ;)

"Not everything they say in the news is true." But everything they say in Russian news is a complete lie. Russia is confidently moving towards becoming a Muslim country. In the "North American hemisphere" you can be right/left in your views. But in Russia you can only be a communist who will be humiliated by Muslims with impunity) Anyone who shows a different point of view is repressed.

Actually an old song that don't fit into this time from an political point but Moskau is the biggest city on the european continent with close to 14 Million. Moskau is like said very old. Almost 900 years and had alot of change while still showing his old roots.. Moskau is the city where you can see the differences between poor and super rich like nowhere else. A regular russian earns line 1300USD per month and than you have basicly any russian millionair and close to 80 billionairs living in Moskau and they show that. Its not uncommen to see like an corso of one dozen full blacked Mercedes G500 Wagons guarding an golden rolls royce. You see people doing an one night party spending 500k+ like its nothing. Im not russian but i have to admit i never saw a city with so many hot woman, wearing like an regular house in worth in gold, watch and fur while always looking to upgrade to an man that will bring them more far into the upper class. Also Moskau while its compared to other metropol citys safe for forginers, visitors and crime is low its an dangerous City for buissnes. Something like NYC in the mob era. If you fu.. with the wrong guys in Moskau you will most likley dissapear forever, you will fall out of your window by accident or you get dropped in deep concrete. Police is another story, europeans often complain of US Police but you can consider US Cops are like boyscouts compared to russian policia. Police is basicly in the pocket of the Mafia while doing buissnes exept for one guy that is beyond anything.. Compared to the US the Super rich and wealthy fear Putin like Vermin the light is going on in the kitchen while the regular people see him more postive.
