Lead singer Till lindemann is a qualified pyro technician and fun fact Rammstein burn through 1000 litres of fuel every concert and get burned themselves all the time
@chriswebb78224 күн бұрын
Several of the band members are certified pyrotechnicians so the fire and all is real! Lighting bolts added after but most everything you see the crowd is seeing!
@johnplaysgames31204 күн бұрын
The lightning effects on the keyboard were added afterward with CG, but the pyrotechnics are real. That's one of the things Rammstein live shows are known for. In fact, what Conner thought was blood on the singer (Till Lindeman) was actually a flame retardant gel (like stuntmen use) to keep the band from getting burnt by all the pyro going off around them. So, yeah, when Till shoots off those fireworks during the show, that's all real. I could be wrong but it looks to me like he's shooting off flare-like fireworks toward the back of the room that go out quickly and then a second set of fireworks are immediately sent back toward the stage along wires (to aim at specific spots and so as not to accidentally fall into the crowd, I assume) and, when they reach the stage, a bunch of placed firepots and whatnot go off all around the band. It's a bit of an illusion that makes it look like it's all one firework that comes from his gun, loops around, and then explodes the stage (rather than being an effect with three separate parts), but it's done with all real fire and fireworks that are actually exploding all around the band during the live show. Like I said earlier, fire FX like these are one of the things that Rammstein live shows are known for. My understanding (iirc) is that they had an accident with a fire effect during a show in 1996 (there's video of it out there) and, from that point on, they started using pro pyro crews to do all their fire effects for their live shows. The singer, Till, learned along with them and is now a fully certified master pyrotechnician and is licensed to not only work with the pyro effects but to actually build his own. Apparently, he's become quite a nerd about building pyro effects. I believe the rest of the band has also become certified now too.

Fun fact about Till Lindemann (the singer): If you see him apart from his stage persona (e.g. in interviews) he is a nice and almost shy person. He also suffers heavily from stage fright which - I assume - is the main reason for those different and scary stage personas. Well after almost 40 years as the lead singer of Rammstein, I guess he's able to deal with his stage fright. As often their lyrics are a bit tricky and hard to translate correctly: The first three words are "Du hast mich" (you have me) which at that moment doesn't make any sense in German. But it sounds (intentionally) the same as "Du hasst mich" (you hate me). Later in the song, the first three words are extended to a full sentence: "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt." (You asked me and I did not answer.) And then, to show what he was asked, the chorus is a wedding vow: "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage?" (Do you want to be faithful to her for all days until death do us part?) This is answered first by a kind of female voice "Ja" (yes) and afterwards by Till's harsh voice "Nein!" (No!). These - plus a slightly obscene word play on the wedding vow, that I will not explain here - are the whole lyrics (repeated a few times). As mentioned in the "making of" of that song it's about the connection within the band. They never had a line-up change since their start in 1994. The lead gitarrist once said, the band is like a marriage without sex. "Du hast" from the show in Paris 2012 The lightning towards the keyboard is post production. And the final explosion seems to be enhanced too. The rest is real even though it is not what it looks like. As far as I can see, there are four effects precisely timed to simulate the effect of returning rockets. First there are the red flairs out of the gun, secondly red lights (maybe flames like Bengal lights) follow a defined path above the audience to fake returning rockets, third effect parts are fireworks towards the stage (in other live videos of "Du hast" you can see that they follow wires), and finally there is an explosion on stage (that seems to be enhanced via post production). So the audience saw most of that in real. I've once read that Rammstein was not quite happy about the post production effects added to their whole recorded show in Paris. Even without those their shows are impressive enough. What I like in this particular video is that you can hear the audience clearly because the sound was not only recorded from the stage mics but also from within the audience. Also you get impressions from multiple angles because there were about 70 cams used.

Rammstein have a lot of Songs with double meaning sentences/words with deep and funny lyrics. No other band plays with german words so well. But the live-performance are high up level, thats why they are so famous in the whole world. The Concerts are sell out in a few hours, it´s really hard to get a ticket. Check out the live performance of "Engel" at the Madison Square Garden in Amerika, you´ll see the the perfectionism of that what they do. But also the music-Clips of the songs are perfect in every detail - they all seems like a short story-movie.

I understand the confusion with the lyrics, especially if you don't speak German. Basically, the lyrics of "Du Hast" **are** indeed a play on the German wedding vows as you mentioned, but they rely on a pun to give it a double meaning. "Du hast" translates to "you have" in English, but the meaning of the song lies in the play on words with the nearly identical sounding "du hasst" which means "you hate." With this double meaning, the song explores the ambiguity between love and hate within a relationship. The double meaning of the lyrics imply a sense of growing resentment and suspicion within a committed relationship, but make the point with a poetic twist by mirroring the marriage vows. Also, on the subject of Till Lindeman (the singer) looking scary: By all accounts he's a sweetheart, very intellectual, and a bit of a nerd. He puts on this scarier look and persona for shows and such as a way of pushing through the social anxiety he has that would otherwise keep him from performing live. It's his way of masking and becoming someone less nervous and stage-frightened for the duration of the show.

In German, Du Hast (you have) and Du Haßst (to hate) are spoken vert similar, so when you look at the lyrics they are making a play on words. There are references to German wedding Vows and in between you hear the 'You hate"/ "You Have" me as a type of call back. the ezsett in hate is a sharp "SSS" (people confuse it for being a "B" sometimes). The pyrotechnics are real and Till (lead singer) has the licensing to actually create pyrotechnics while the band have certification to allow them to perform and work with them. (they can't create a pyro display- best example is the Wings Till wears in Angel). Flacke (Treadmill keyboard player) and Till are you picking at each other throughout the show that creates a story line for the set that anyone can watch and follow even if they don't know German.

In German, Du hast or Du hasst is not clear without the following Content! You only know whether Du hast (You have) or Du hasst (You hate) is meant in relation to the following Text! ……. you have asked me, only now it is clear that ….. du hast mich gefragt (You have ask me) is meant! Hast and hasst are two Words that Sound the same in German! No German can tell just by hearing (Du hast/hasst) what is meant! It only becomes clear in Context and from the Spelling! Rammstein is a very popular Band worldwide, even though they sing in German! There are sooo many great Songs and Videos from them and their Performances are very creative and entertaining! as a german i can tell you "du hast" means you have. all the interpretations that claim "du hast " means " du haßt" which means you hate is simply not true. the lyrics are very simple. "do you till death separetes us want to be faithful?". and the female chorus answers yes. and the male singer answers no. thats it.
