Rammstein Reaction - MUTTER

Hi Detrucci, it's called Power-Ballad. Do you know that the songs "Mutter" and "Ohne Dich" [Without you], especially the original videos, are connected with each other? At Rammstein, all band members must be in favour of a decision in order for it to be implemented. If only one is against it, all have to give it up. So more than democratic decisions are necessary. The video for Mutter was produced after a concert tour and all band members were already on vacation. So Till decided to produce the video alone without asking the other band members. Therefore it is the only video in which only Till appears. Because of this solo effort Rammstein almost split up. The song Ohne Dich describes the reconciliation of the band members. You should definitely watch the video.

They are from my hometown Berlin and like me from the eastern part. Flake, Paul and Christoph played in a east german punkband before. To say the teared down the wall or helped is maybe a bit too much as it was a movement of the whole country but they were part of it as all the other million of people in former East Germany. It actualy makes me very very proud that Rammstein are from East Germany and now they are the most known German band outside Germany.🤘❤️

I have been listening to Rammstein for 20 years on a daily basis, I have learned German because of Till. He speaks high German, so its crystal clear his pronunciation in German, I can sing all their songs, except for the new album, but I'm going to see them in Germany next year 😁😍!

Hi Detrucci. Just to explain, because this song is very profound: Till sings from the point of view of a clone that was artificially conceived. He condemns his mother, who doesn't exist. He wishes his sire diseases and would rather die than live without maternal love. Rammstein expresses all this in very drastic dark words.

yeah you could call it a Rammstein ballad, its in line with songs like Onhe Dich, Seemann and Donaukinder. you should for sure do Deutschland but I think you would like some of their lesser known stuff to unfortunately not all of their songs have been preformed live like Donaukinder. I would like to put Haifisch in the mix of Rammstein songs you should listen to.

I can relate a lot to this song. I had a very bitter experience with my mother since childhood. In our country, men are usually very close with their mother and mothers are usually affectionate to their sons mostly. After the guitar solo when Til shouts "Mutter" I can very much relate to that painful urge to reach to the heart of the mother which I never could. I usually listen to this one and Eminem's cleaning up my closet on Mother's day cause I am not ready for an emotional ride on any random day. Usually, I avoid this song on my mobile. It is difficult not to cry while Til shouts "MUTTER".

At the moment there are a few bands that transformed live performances... Nightwish, Rammstein and Epica, and they are NorH Western European bands... there are more sailing that route now, many more... They hire film directors to make their perfomances... They are planned from start to end... And then great songs become great performances, thats what America is missing out on... we are way ahead in metal

Awesome reaction, Detrucci! Mutter's a very emotional song, Till's had a rough relationship with his parents, that's probably the reason why this song is so poweful and raw. I'd recommend for you to watch Benzin, at Madison Square ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5jEp5p_iJVjqc0 ). The song talks about an Arsonist and his compulsion to set things on fire, and also, about his lack of interest for everything else. Quite fits with Rammstein's aesthetic, right? You can imagine how that goes on live performance haha Cheers man!

If you like the “ballad” type song, have a look at “Seemann”, one of the earlier Rammstein songs. There is also a great cover by Nina Hagen which would make for a brilliant back-to-back reaction video. Another interesting song is “Haifisch” which isn’t really a ballad, but also not typically Rammstein-heavy and shows their range. “Deutschland” is of course an exceptional music video, if you can manage to sneak it past the content filters.
