I always related to Henry Huggins in the “parent“ Henry Huggins series, what with his having to deal with ever arrogant and superior Scooter McCarthy. I had been there many a time myself while growing up when I was in school, having to deal with such school peers whom I couldn’t stand; the type who think they’re better than everybody else and don’t even deign to pay a smidge of attention to those they consider beneath themselves. And even when they do, it’s simply to belittle them. Because they’re stuck-up.(arrogant and superior, of course.) Beezus’ friend Mary Jane was the same way towards Henry, all holier than thou, if you will. Ramona’s classmate Susan‘s attitude and nature towards Ramona actually parallels that of Scooter(even though he’s two years older than Henry) and Mary Jane in the Ramona series.
