i love my mom but sometimes she insults my interests, sometimes she gives me mental burden but i love her so i can't say anything harsh, i can only call her out. she then gets even more defensive and it makes me hate myself, but i forgive her, knowing her behaviour is from the things she had to suffer when nonna passed away when she was 8. yk i feel her sadness and i know it's her first time being a mom and living life but she has lived her 36 years alrdy but this is me living life aswell idk anything and if she tells me im bad before i get to be anything or to try anything, it is only making me feel suicidal, but i love her.

In real life a mother is supposed to be 'a mother', so kind, loving, supporting etc The fact Judy isn't (most of the time) produces painful (we can relate to Monica's pain and frustration), but also funny scenes, her behaviour doesn't bother me because of that. If every character had behaved as he/she 'should' have, we wouldn't have FRIENDS as it is, it would have been boring.

So New York City had a concept called rent control where they couldn't raise the rent much on long term residents. Officially her grandmother is living in the apartment and paying a reduced rate for being a long time resident. Unofficially Monica is illegally subletting the apartment from her grandmother and resutingly benefiting from a reduced rate she wouldn't otherwise be afforded for such an apartment. If the landlord ever found out Monica was doing this she would be in real trouble. Which is why they have that plot with the Superintendent at one point (who knows Monica is doing this) where Joey has to be his dance partner to stop him ratting.
