Well, that is the best set of ramps I have seen for getting a tractor into the back of a pickup truck. The extra boards balanced at the top of the ramp keep the mower deck from bottoming out, ingenious. I know the arched ramps work well but the deck still seems to hit the tailgate of the truck. I was also considering truck ramps to raise the front of my pickup. Therefore lowering my tailgate to ground height but I like this idea better. Two thumbs up 👍👍!

A clever idea. It's easy to make and low cost. And too it prevents a potential safety issue. But all pickup truck ramp designs are dangerous. Slip off those narrow ramps and you may be in for a wilder ride than you planned for. Good job.

@MrGaborseres6 жыл бұрын
If you really consider how much pain is to hook up and unhook a trailer, storing it perpetualy in your front driveway, driving it and dragging it around, Julio's idea makes sense. The teeter totter planks are a bit weak other than that it is safe and practical.

@mpmrla4 жыл бұрын
pretty slick idea. now you neet to modify it and make one with the pivot point on the ground and get rid of the two pieces of plywood. the entire ramp wlould teeeter totter with the tailgait end dropping down to the tailgait as soon as you reach the balance point.
@Methodical23 жыл бұрын
Cool idea. I'd place some wheel chocks at the rear wheels...maybe fabricate the board to accommodate wheel chocks and use several straps to secure mower. However, if I had to use a pickup, I would only use one if I can shut the tail gate with a mower. With all of that said, I would never drive behind anyone with that setup. Also, I'd be worried the cops would stop me with that setup.
@Cabollo00872 жыл бұрын
You don't have to worry about the cops if you put red flags at the end of those ramps during a clear day & under conditions of reduced visibility such as night, fog , or rain etc.... Amber or Red lights devices can be visible to other drivers.

I was thinking the same thing. I just want to load and go. It's definitely a good idea for someone with patience and someone who is not in the lawncare business; time is money. The only other problem is having to spend money for a larger pick up truck accommodation the equipment.

@PrincernPrince4 жыл бұрын
Richard Kenworthy A trailer.
@PrincernPrince4 жыл бұрын
Richard Kenworthy I also happen to have a zero turn with a steering wheel I bypassed the seat safety switch to where I can switch it on and off I have a set of ramps that are aluminum with a slight border on each side of each ramp that allow the wheels to be guided somewhat they are very light ramps they have straps on the bottom of them around one of the cross rails and they connect to the bumper just as these do but only from The Middle which makes them more stable and they pull the same way and secure the ramps. Then I stand beside the mower with one hand I press the gas pedal and the other a steer or hold the wheel straight and the mower drives right up the ramps no need for that extra apparatus or jacking and removing or Anything like that. my ramps are slightly curved in an S shape and I put the deck at its highest position and it allows for the deck and goes right up onto the truck. simple. With a zero-turn like this with the bars all you would have to do is get a piece of PVC and stick both handles inside that way you could stand to the side and pull the bar which would allow the mower to go up straight and with the guards on the ramps it won't come off sounds like a lot writing this but actually it takes 3 minutes
@AOWGroundBeef3 жыл бұрын

This man effort as a few functional issues but is good and valid. Although is trying to address a problem created by himself while choosing the wrong vehicle in the first place. Quite honestly for real world workers these pickup trucks are total BS. There is a good reason why the rest of the world seldom use them for real work. ;-) The loading area set above waist line simply doesn't make any sense. Specially considering that most work vans have it about knee height. Out of the showroom no mods added or needed! If we add on top that for the same vehicle length, you get way more loading area and cargo protected from prying eyes and hands, snow, rain, can load from the back and the sides, don¨t have a tailgate on the way, etc, etc. Well it simply makes one wonder why the "work smart, not hard" isn't applied. ;-) Cheers
