Thanks for posting. It helped a lot. Mine fell onto the floor the first time I opened it up. I had no clue what it was, and it wasn't in any description. When you shoot without it, the ramrod Flys forward.

I will tell you how I do it so that I don't have to take the barrel off the gun when you need to remove the lock plate to clean it (I do the same when I shoot mine). Take and just loosen the forward lock plate screw enough to where it frees up the lock and then remove the lock from the gun, being careful not to let the screw fall out. Then once the lock is off, push the screw in all the way which won't be an issue since there's no lock in the way and take a piece of masking tape and tape over the head of the screw holding it onto the gun. I've done that with several guns that have pinned barrels that are much harder to take apart than my Traditions Kentucky rifle. My CVA Kentucky Rifle is much harder to get the barrel off of then this one and that's the one I learned to make sure to keep where I don't have to take the whole gun down.

Had the same issues on my Frontier, had to "tune" the spring to get it to hold onto the ramrod without needing two men and a boy to remove it

My Traditions Trapper flint pistol has a very loose ramrod. Could I buy and install this spring in my pistol? Great video.

I’m not sure if it would fit or not or if you can even buy just the spring. Might want to contact Traditions about that one.

It does rattle when the ramrod is not in it, yes. Not the greatest design but it does it’s job.
