I think part of the difference between bravery and stupidity is knowing the consequences. As you said “We dont know what fire feels like until we get burned”. Young people will do crazy things out of sheer reckless naivity, then once they realize the danger they arent so brave anymore. Put simply, there can be no courage without fear.

@@MR-nl8xr stupidity is by definition a lack of good judgement (just googled it). That lack of judgment could be due to ignorance, but it doesnt necessarily have to be. It could be delusion, misinformation, or an…overdose of optimism for example.

@damanOts stupidity is by definition a lack of good judg... - There are DOZENS of dictionaries out there (google is not one), that will have their own variation of that "definition". I will just give mine, since it is what people mean when they say the word, but don't know it, and are too lazy to define it, as follows: When a being has the faculties, capabilities, and features (i.e. a non medically damaged "frontal lobe" cerebrum) to process & make a decision on data, but makes the aforethought decision not to, out of any level of desire. That is what makes a Human "st00pid". That lack of judg... - Wrong. I am glad you finally said the quiet part out loud. Go look up 3 different definitions about what that word is, and you will see it does not, and CAN NOT, mean what you think it can.

For me, its the tactical blunder of ducking Mikey Musameci, but then agreeing to spar Sean Strickland. Id much prefer a grappling match then striking with a guy who "likes to take peoples souls" lolol And on another note, i think strickland is a lot more conscious about creating his WWE persona than people think.

Wether it is physical pain, or mental pain, it is by far the greatest teacher. It is raw, shows us our boundaries, yet it makes us adapt to become better. Makes us smarter, makes us more resilient. I have been through some physical trauma, but mostly psychological trauma throughout my entire life, and while it sucks to find myself feeling empty, or numb most of the time... I cannot imagine living without the lessons pain gave me. I might be unable to really bond with anyone because off all the things that happened, but at the same time I learned from all the pain, and it opened my eyes. It made me independent, made me who I am. I know that is something that some might not understand. There are many negative sides to this as well. Sometimes I wish it would have been easier

Your words definitely made a lot of sense to me. For the longest time I would listen and watch foolish people like Sneako and I’d be too attached to my own emotions and ego. I found myself being all types of ways that I didn’t really want to be deep down and accumulating a lot of sin. By the grace of God I was one day drawn to actually sit down and listen to the entirety of Proverbs and I cried and felt a deep sense of fear and regret for how foolish I’ve been. Now I see how valuable respect, humility, order, and overall good sense with mind, speech and action as well as compassion and forgiveness. I even feel a strong aversion to watching and listening to all of the noise now and I see now where such things come from. I hope God teaches Sneako good sense in a merciful way just as God has done for me and to Coach Ramsey Dewey thank you for another good video may God shower you with blessings. 🤲

I think one of the reasons people are interested in it is because it runs into a few themes about fighters vs martial artists with regards to humility and restraint and maturity and I guess a kind of master/student expert/novice code of conduct. As an example, is it right for a novice to trash talk and challenge a master to a fight? Many people might say he deserves a beatdown for it. And the flipside is, knowing what he knows about the fighting world, should a master accept that fight or even rise to the bait? And if he takes the fight, should he make an example of the novice and beat him bloody? Not to mention this was not supposed to be a fight, it was a sparring round. Should veterans beat up novices while sparring? So yeah I think there are a lot of interesting elements of both human nature and maybe the mythology of what it means to be a martial artist at play here. Just like in real war we dress it up with honor and codes of conduct and we bow and salute and hand out medals for bravery and coloured belts and we quote ancient Chinese wisdom, but...some people just like to beat people up.

Forest Griffin supposedly left the cage for a bit because it looked like they were gonna be fine (what? with Sean? ) and had to rush back in, thats why Sneako got beat on for so "long". @@kobinho1917 knocking someone out is not as skill based as we like to pretend. Sometimes you tap a guy on the chin and he goes to sleep and sometimes you can just beat on him for minutes and he won't go down. Sean was going all out for those ten or so seconds and said afterwards that he wanted to drop him with a head punch, and don't get me wrong, another ten seconds and Sneako would be leaving in a stretcher, but knocking someone out on command is pretty unrealistic unless they are complete non fighter and off guard.

Sneako used to make really deep philosophical youtube videos, one of those changed my life, its called “fake it till you make it” a lot of those videos were really nice and inteospective and were edited like movies, but like most artists he didnt earn a lot of money. Then he started streaming and got addicted to the attention, he started screaming out a lot of red pill/neo-conservative opinions but he did it really controversially, he tried to be like Andrew Tate. Right now he seems to do anything for attention, he says hes bettering himself (thats why he tries to pursue fighting and getting beat up) but he also does a lot of hypocritical stuff, he became muslim but also started streaming with onlyfans girls. Its really sad but i hope he earns a lot of money so he doest value it as much anymore and goes back to his meaningful videos.

Regarding weird stuff being famous on the internet, Sneako's audience is largely boys between roughly 7 to 12 years old. That's the numbers, not a judgement. It's easy for us to forget just how many kids (actual children) are using the internet and for how much time they are doing so. Not too long ago, some kids were vlogging see some event where Sneako was and they approached as fans. They pretty much immediately started shouting inflammatory things about women and transgender people hoping to gain Sneako's approval. Sneako is clearly embarrassed and tries to play that off to the camera like "I don't know what these kids are talking about!" But that's pretty much been his brand for like a decade now.

Sean's been fighting for his daddies love, approval and respect, and failing at it for his whole career. He's the one who asked him to spar btw--for someone who "hates influencers," he is constantly jumping from teet to teet of those same influencers 🤔 Difficult to respect the "might makes right...but only when I have more might" types of dudes

I was doing BJJ for about 2 years before I decided to try some boxing, kickboxing, and mma. I thought I would be okay dealing with getting hit because I'd been grappling with high intensity for 2 years now. Boy was I wrong. Was matched up with a buddy who I usually absolutely crush in BJJ. Man, did I get humbled in kickboxing lol. You really have no idea what it's like to go from sparring with some buddies for fun, and then spar in an actual gym during an actual martial arts class. I backed up the entire time, got hit a lot, and really didn't land anything. It's very humbling.

I just can't for the life of me fathom approaching a pro fighter(or a pro in any other category) with anything other than humility. It's okay to recognize and acknowledge that somebody is better at something than you are. They've devoted a large part of their life to mastery of their art. Shut up and maybe you can learn something from them and become better yourself.

I like drama. I like inter personnel conflict, I like when people I can say are the wrong people, the bad people, fail, so that I can act like me and other "good" people must not be as bad as them. It makes me feel like I have to do less work if there are people who are worse than me, because that must mean I'm good enough. I'd want you to talk about things like this, BECAUSE your area of expertise relates to fighting, and something happened in the fighting realm. It feels a lot safer having someone who I respect, and think is right, talk down towards someone I think is wrong and silly. If someone is talking down someone else who I feel like I am better than, then it must almost be like they are praising me, right? Ok those were my attempts and being honest. I might have gone to far into the other direction and am trying to act so great by being willing to say so many things about myself, and thus committing a similar act to what my message was condemning of my self for.

Sean was putting a lot on those punches, but if you go back and watch; a lot of those punches were not landing flush. You can say Sneako had up a decent guard, so Sean was catching mostly gloves. But it's really Sean was chasing the KO instead of tactically placing his punches. Not defending Sean. Not defending Sneako. If Sean went to the body Sneako would have folded. He wanted Sneako to hurt and he wanted to inflict as much damage as possible. He didn't want to end it quickly. If he was patient he could have made openings and picked Sneako apart. He knew he didn't have to. If not for Forrest jumping in and stopping it, I honestly believe Sneako would have eventually hit the ground before the time ran out.

Honest answer: I was cooking and wanted to hear some wisdom delivered with a beautiful voice. Didn't even know the fight happened...oh well. I'd imagine the people who watched it are the same ones who slow down driving by a car crash. We've been taught all our lives that in such situations, when challenged by the ignorant and foolish, to be the bigger man and walk away. But we're forever left with the question. What if I didn't? What if I mete out some justice? Why not give this despicable creature the humiliation he begs for? Whilst hardly new, I'd imagine the audience found some catharsis.

Personally i didnt care to have your perspective on this or anyone's for that matter. I only watched because it seemed like a weird topic for you to talk about. I skipped to the end since it wasnt very useful for my brain to hear what we all know from just watching the strickland sneako video, best part of the video was talking about the difference between courage and stupidity. Sneako vs Strickland reminds me more of a video from jackass than anything useful for himself or others, and the sad part was like you pointed out, his expression showed that wasnt his vision for the spar. It reminds me of when i sparred my muay thai coach many years ago and accidentally hit him harder than i would have meant to with a teep to the liver because he stepped in at an angle for some hooks he was landing and i wanted to show that i could stop him that way if i wanted to. He reacted almost immediately much like strickland and i was forced to sweep him to reduce the strikes hitting me and then it became an mma fight on he ground until the buzzer. I remember going home feeling many things, betrayal, self doubt, wondering if i did something wrong to warrant that. I liked that coach and him laying into me like that felt like an unspoken trust was broken and nobody should leave they gym concussed if they didnt sign up for that level of intensity. They knew i wasnt there to spar hard and only sparred to help other people improve and keep my skills sharp. Im no longer a fighter, im an engineer and a father, i need my brain cells to stick around for my family, so its hard not to take sudden hard spars personal. Sneako had that same look i had that day and you had after your 1st match. The look where you have to contemplate and reconcile with yourself that experience was necessary and not stupid, but ultimately come to the conclusion that it was stupid, otherwise you wouldnt look like that. Sometimes we cause the stupid situation, sometimes we get pulled into a stupid situation, but it doesnt change that it was stupid
