"Poland’s Oldest Standup” is a short documentary film about the life and times of Poland's oldest, craziest, nastiest stand-up comedian: Edward "Rotten Eddie” Cochanski, a 90-year-old man from New York City who moved to Poland by himself at the age of 86 without ever having been to Poland before, and without knowing the Polish language.

Directed and edited by Jonathan L. Ramsey, director of Living with Warsaw, One Man’s Brexit, and Smog Wars.
Jonathan first heard about Ed through a Facebook group for Warsaw expats. Ed had been notoriously banned from Krakow expat groups for his unruly online etiquette. Jonathan initially believed that “Edward Cochanski" was a hilarious online troll who was only pretending to be a 90-year-old man... So Jonathan became determined to find out who was the person behind this mysterious troll persona, and one day they finally met at KFC. It turned out that Ed is a real person… The rest is history.
Ed and Jonathan are currently developing a long-form documentary covering Ed’s life story. Stay tuned!
Filmed in Warsaw, Poland in October/November 2018 on iPhone SE, edited on FCPX.
