I usually sing really softly and let falsetto happen when I'm going high, but if I reeeeeeally mean to hit a note with a stronger beltier sound, I find actually holding my voice back and compressing it allows me to hit that note more comfortably and with a sustainable strength. The more I try to "push" a note, the worse off it usually sounds.

Matt, you may find this hard to believe but in addition to daily vocal workouts and breathing workouts, always attempting to sing difficult songs of all kinds was one of biggest things I did, and still do. I didn't think of transitioning to head voice. In my mind there was only one voice. I was always listening to the guys that had those fearless belts and high chesty notes. I was influenced by the old school guys. People like Lou Gramm and Steve Walsh, my two biggest influences. I absolutely love the tone, ring and richness in their voices. Truthfully, I busted my butt for many years trying to sing certain songs. I strained and strained but I always supported so I could strain! Lol!! Hope I've made sense.

I've been taking vocal lessons for 1 month, and for the first time realized the placement of my vocals in my respiratory cavity when I played your video in my room "How to Sing Through Your Bridge - 4 Clutch Exercises!" while I'm warming up, now I'm thinking about doing a cover of She's Gone lol, thanks!

what I still do, like singing the darkness, I believe in a thing called love, I stay on the note that cracks my voice and strains it, and i keep working through it, trying to sustain it as long as a can, adjusting my throat muscles as i see fit. i keep holding the note no matter how bad it sounds and eventually over a few days it starts to smooth out and my throat muscle seems to get stronger and i end up being able to sing it. a good example for me recently is the all american rejects, when he sings the bridge in “dirty little secret”. with this method i am almost able to sing it. still working on it but it’s getting easier.

I have a beautiful song and I know how to sing in but I wanna go crazy with it... I've never done singing classes and all the advice he gives I discovered myself by singing with an empty cooler over my head 💯💝 you definitely know what your talking about but do you by any chance have a video on increasing vocal range

Is there a way to learn vibrato? I think my voice isn’t good because I can’t do it. Is it something I can learn or is it just something you’re born with?
@lisajones37913 жыл бұрын
I don't actually know yet when and how I can hit high notes. I think if I can it is sometimes because I just know a certain song really well and I have sung it quite often. I am hoping to learn a method from my favorite music teacher that truly works for me .

So singing with a bratty nasal voice was the solution ? I had to watch the video twice to spot that might be it since it wasn't being that clear. Sounded more like you were simply continuing your general story telling, the first time. Unsure I'd want to sound nasally on all higher pitch songs, to be honest.

I didnt discover my head voice right away when I got into singing because I figured that wasnt ok to sing with and that it sounded silly. So I struggled with a very short range. But when I tried incorporating head voice it made the range much better, and also with practice going from chest to head to chest again is easier to get it smooth. Plus the range expands with more practice. Not all songs sound good with head voice though. But songs like Ingrid Michaelson- girls chase boys is ok in head voice at certain parts I think. Or certain musical numbers like castle on a cloud, blondie - heart of glass.. kate bush songs.. :) sorry for rambling. I really just practiced songs with high ranges.. Im no soprano though but it got easier to hit higher notes.

I have a request. I'm a soprano, and honestly strong high notes are super easy for me if loud, but how do you hit them quietly without strain? I'm not talking about whistle tone notes, just higher head tones. For me I fail being able to control how loud I am at G5. Can those above it be done quietly?

Hi coach Ramsey, I must say watching your videos here on KZbin has been tremendously helpful. I've really improved in my singing since I've started watching your videos. For me it is the fact that I can really support my voice from my diaphragm that helps me hit high notes. But my question though is this: I've heard a lot of people say that a male singer sings in his mix voice from note A4 and above. I just want to know if that it's true. Also does mix voice have to really sound brassy and light cos I can only achieve that while directing my sound to my nasal region and it sounds like falsetto to me except that it has this bee buzzing sound element. Please I need clarification on this.

Try katatonia - Mulder and Scully. Random I know. Its super straining, I know we all have different vocals and ranges but anyone with me on this? I did it once and my voice died over and over but I still managed a recording.

What gets me is that I can be sitting at my table singing along with other people and singing really high but then when I sing by myself I start breaking especially when I sing high. Keep thinking to myself what the hell's going on? I could do this in my car I can do this when I'm just relaxing with my friends but I can't do it when I'm singing in front of people
