From your AT thru-hiker intro videos to your gear giveaways to your marathons (Yay Mt. Trashmore in Virginia Beach) to your ultra-marathons and to everything else that you give to the "community," you ROCK! (From the guy who commented that Andrew and Todd should share the pee cloth). Thanks for the inspiration and for all that you do.

8 laps X 12.5 mile per lap Lap pace: 8:54, 8:56, 8:54, 8:41, 8:45, 9:03, 8:56, 8:54 Consistency wins the race As long as you continue to have fun, you've got at least 5 years to hone your mental game, nutrition, and training to hit your peak. It's fun to see how quickly you're advancing, and the potential that rests within you. Great job.

What would be your advise for people getting into racing at an "older" age? I did my first half last year and loved it. I want to do more of these races, but I feel a bit discouraged as I am getting into this now in my mid-thirties. Any encouragements, suggestions for reading to learn about nutrition, and or so suggestions are appreciated.
@taratreks8 ай бұрын
Yeah! I’d work up from a marathon to 50k. From there a 50 miler, to 100k and then 100 miler. You can go on The Feed and get several nutrition options to try out on your gut as you do your training runs. That’s a good place to begin!
@Kelly_Ben8 ай бұрын
Lucky for you, 30s-40s is when ultra runners often hit their peak, instead of 20s like shorter road races! I was convinced to try ultras by a 70 something year old. He'd only started running in his 60s, and was still doing ultras! I did my first trail marathon/50k at 41, and wish I'd made the switch years ago- but even though I'm in my mid 40s, I'm constantly setting and beating new distances, PRs, etc. Have fun!!
@dresden68518 ай бұрын
@@taratreks Where in your feed would that be? Is there a playlist. Another thought, have you considered doing a triathlon or Ironman races?
@dresden68518 ай бұрын
@@Kelly_Ben Thanks! That's encouraging. I had this conversation with my wife recently. I wish I'd found things like backpacking and races earlier. I wasted my 20s being your typical dumb college student with no drive. Part of it honestly was it seemed unattainable. I always thought marathoners were in this upper echelon of athlete that just wasn't me. I'm doing it now, but at times, I wonder, "Man, have I missed the train here? Am I too old?"
@dresden68517 ай бұрын
@@taratreks Another question. When you aren't training for a race or have a planned race, how often do you run to maintain?

Ok thank you! I ordered the waist belt after watching this video because I’ve only used a hydration vest but I have a 12hr loop course coming up in June and it will be beneficial to figure out how to be efficient with this waist belt. I enjoy following your journey and love the videos 🫡🏃♂️
