those Staples will never hold as they are not long enough and didn't go deep enough and on top of everything else they are the wrong kind of staple for that application they will eventually pop out like popcorn kernels in a hot pot....lol! Wood will dry out and shrink at some point and voila just like a nail in drywall I see you!

Between the aluminum and fabric, with 1/4"staples, he'd be lucky to get 1/8" penetration. Wrong staples, wrong stapler. Hitting them just deforms them. If that wood frame flexes at all when they put it on the car staples will pop!

I have my doubts that the light staples will hold the roof together passing through the thin aluminun and carpet material. if you take a drive the wind pressure could possiblel lift the roof.

Well the glimpse that we got of the inside looked nice. The wood contrasting with the fabric worked. Pattern may have been a bit bold, but then again it still works. I am not sure about staples. Unless you are going to put something over the top to secure it all down, the staples will eventually give way. But I’m waiting to see the end results. You may have something else planned that we don’t see at the moment. I do have to go back to the wood frame, as it really looks good inside. Metal would not have been as pretty for sure.

The carson top idea is good Chad. I'm very disappointed because you removed the original windshield wiper at the top of the windshield and now with the chopped windshield and carson top, the windshield wiper can no longer be re-installed. You bypassed/eliminated a very important function of the car. Can't drive it in the rain. You've done this windshield wiper elimination on several cars.

When the final fabric goes on, it will more than likely be attached in the same frame work so that the headliner will be secured again with pleats at the ribs. You’ll be fine. Wondering how many commenters have a Carson top for their ride. Proving once again, you can do it, with minimal skills and tools and have your own hotrod! Also, proved you can monetize 35,000 views with a few 2x4’s, a carpenter friend and the guts to produce daily content.

That roof will pull itself apart once the car is on the road. The flexing and twisting will back out those staples very quickly. Perhaps crown staple with a pneumatic stapler would have been better... Glue wouldn't have hurt either. The roofline is super square and not terribly attractive at the c pillar.

I'm not sure that foam is a good choice because it isnt durable in sun, heat and cold conditions. Might look at a felt or furniture pad that is fiber. This waybthe final layer/surface may retain its shape and lines better.
