The prime purpose of any film is to entertain- Period! Animal succeeds in transporting you as an audience into the world of Animal - I am an activist and I write about human rights (especially about gender based violence) Now as long as the movie was convincing enough to be entertaining yes I was entertained 100% and i was highly impressed by his acting - and I felt that I enjoyed my movie experience in a theatre. And i deliberately didn’t see Kabir Khan (because of bad reviews) but I wanted to see Animal without any preconceived notions - That’s why I enjoyed it too - contrary to popular opinion-

Didn’t agree with a lot of things in the film (I find the Sandeep Reddy Vanga to be a really wierd man) and honestly bohat zyada achhee nahin lagee but Ranbir’s performance was out of this world in Animal. Best acting of his was in the post credits scene, the expressions and looks he gives in that are unbelievable. It showed a completely different range of his and definitely put him in the all time great bracket of actors in Bollywood with the likes of Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Raj Kapoor, SRK and Amitabh Bachan. He can take it even a notch higher in Animal Park since he will be playing a double role. Hopefully there will be less weird things in Animal Park and it will be a better film overall. Ranbir should now also try to do an out an out action film, people don’t think he can be pull it off but he showed in the corridor fighting scene in Animal that he can.

I watched in theatres and Ranbir was tremendous. Yeah there was misogyny but the character kind of blended in and you won’t even remember that at the end of the movie. I couldn’t take my eyes from Ranbir he was that good. I get outrageous when people start back lashing this and giving it just a misogyny tag. If you have noticed who backlashed is the people who haven’t watched the movie. They think that by not watching it they are achieving something. They should atleast watch the movie and give opinions. I would say one of the best performance of Ranbir Kapoor. He peaked. Not a Ranbir fan or anything but man he is the best that we got now.

Not true exactly. Those films and stars from the 80s and 90s did face criticism (and rightfully so). It's just that there was no internet and social media back then so the criticism (or rather its reach) didnt quite enter into our bedrooms via our mobiles or lappies, as neither existed back then. Otherwise, there was always criticism regarding films like Dil, Raja Hindustani, Phool Aur Kaante and many more from that era or so.

It will be few months or 1 year of releasing animal in theatre but i still watched this film more than 100 times because it never got me bored and the film is still in my mind and I will be watching today also. People will say aisi filmein nahi banni chahiye but I think every filmmaker has liberty to make any kind of film but they should disclaimer also and animal team has also already did before its release. Movies do influence people. Not just movies but every experience in our life shapes our brain. Just because after watching a movie one doesn’t jump off a roof doesn’t mean their brain didn’t learn anything from it. Brain is constantly learning from every single bit of information we consume. If you feed your brain garbage, like animal, it will learn from it. When violence is normalized and shown to people repeatedly it will change the way their brain functions. Also just because people liked the movie doesn’t mean it’s not garbage. People love french fries and burgers. But is it healthy for our body, no. Setting aside moral considerations, I found the movie Animal to be quite a drag. It was 3.5 hours long, with about 2 hours dedicated to violence. Some of the dialogues felt cringe-worthy and seemed included solely to cater to certain audiences, like the character discussing women's hip size for childbirth. Fortunately, watching it on Netflix allowed me to skip through most of it.

That's a you problem. There's actually a similar dialogue like that in one of Johnny Depps movie and he says that to a kid. In fact, it's actually smart to put that dialogue there coz in the older generation they used to have that concept of women who are built like that. And there's nothing wrong in that. If you see a well built man and someone said wow you're built for hunting animal or you can father good kids, I'm sure it'll be fine too. But y'all just don't like Animal success.

Character discussing about the women's hip is indeed necessary beacuse this dialogue shows the nature and the behavior of the character. Showing such characters/ behaviours are in fact necessary for this movie- beacusr this movie is a character driven movie.

The problem isn’t doing a negative or misogynistic role as an actor. The problem is the message and how the story is told . The Godfather depicted the Italian mafia in New York. It was understood that they were criminals. It was the story telling, cinematic excellence and acting that people loved. It didn’t make people want to become criminals. Nobody emulates The Godfatehr. They showed the cruelty and gruel nature of the crime. Animal is a movie that depicts a large portion of south asian men who are often misogynistic, violent, entitled, rude and intolerant. On top of that, they expect to have affairs and get away with it. It sort of celebrates the character. It does not demonise it or depict how twisted and hurt the man is from the inside mentally and emotionally. Had they shown flashbacks and memories of hurt, betrayal, a misogynistic father, comparisons, being sweet which was seen as weak, being kind but ridiculed only to become rude as a mechanism of self defence, etc then it would’ve been a better approach. It didn’t show WHY he was like that or what his fears were, which made him like that.

Well they did it right by making this film Now it's upto the people what they want to take from it Good thing or bad thing Remember there is always a choice to choose from. Simply blaming that the movie can affect society is dumbest statement. Well upto some extent it can but even if you watch MS Dhoni The Untold Story one can choose to be like MSD and one can choose to be like his friends or one will start to search friends like of MSD's so it's upto the people what they want to pick and from which character they want to get inspired. Completely agree. Just as a work of cinema, Animal is ok at best. Ranbir, Bobby D and Anil K acted really well, and the soundtrack was terrific too. But thats not enough to hide the poor screenplay and the clumsy direction that the film suffered from. Atleast not to the extent of comparing it with an absolute masterpiece like The Godfather.

My two complaints about Animal. First I didn't feel the emotion between father and son, character development between father n son was missing. Second, the second-half of the movie was flat nothing special. Bobby would have introduced a bit earlier to see his danger side.
