I live in CA and “run” trails just like these. It is hard to describe how punishing a 50% gradient is on your run. a 3 mile hill run at these gradient s is way harder than say a half marathon. I run both regularly and find the the flattish half along the coast way easier than the 3 mile hill run. I slow to a walk every time.

@@devinstucky6948 Well VO2 maxes in XF athletes rarely exceed 60 ml/kg/min (of those I've measured who competed in regionals with some moving on) which is nowhere near HS or college endurance athletes. Their cardio is far more relevant to interval resistance training modalities vs the 5k/10k they ran here.
@devinstucky69483 жыл бұрын
@@gannonw You sound way more educated than me on this so I won't argue any of that but look at what you're comparing. Trail runs they know the exact distance and run the race accordingly. These guys didn't. They had 4 brutal events previously (hip flexors already feeling like hell), the runners showed up fresh. Runners train for one event, xf trains for anything, including brute strength. I think people would be surprised how good at cardio top level xf athletes are if they were to compete at a trail run.
