I saw these guys on Olympia while they were still a 3 piece only knowing they were ex Operation Ivy. Matt duct taped the pick in his hand cause he cut his hand or something and then they just killed it. Playing some of these songs and off the self titled The next day I started a new band completely motivated by that show.

They came to Hampton Virginia back then. I had already bought the tape. We tried to get Matt to play Sound System. He said we dont dont do them songs anymore and Tim cant sing like that anyway, but I got something for ya. They opened with Radio. I was truly lucky to see them that early on over here on the east coast

Ex Op Ivy? You mean 2 members of Op Ivy minus the lead singer. Why does everybody think Tim was the lead vocalist of Op Ivy? Thats like saying Lars is the lead singer of Rancid. Jesse Michaels was the lead and Tim was guitarist and back up vocals

@@HipsterEatinShark Oh yeah, that's the best release by Lookout, I meant that this 7" is the best thing Rancid ever put out. I should've specified that, sorry. But yes you're correct about Filth/Blatz.

@@zach_diecast_mansur yeah this, some of the early bootleg stuff, and the self-titled album from 2000 are basically the only thing I can stand listening to by them now that they've been out of ideas for good music for 20-some-odd years now hahahhaah

Someone commented this old shit is their best with let's go being their peak? Fuck no, Indestructible, life won't wait, the black&white album,.... Out come the wolves, those 4 albums are way bomb shit. This shit is good but it's sloppy. Lars added what made them last this long. Without Lars joining, they probably wouldn't have lasted very long.
@9dstyle8 жыл бұрын
i agree, this isn't bad but it doesn't hold up next to masterpieces like out come the wolves and life won't wait...

My favorites are their untitled 1993 and untitled 2000 albums. I think that I like them the most since they are just simple fast stuff (no ska, although some of their ska-stuff is alright). Their first untitled album (1993) doesn't have Lars on it, but I won't go as far as to say that Lars destroyed the band. As far as I know, their only album that I dislike is Life Won't Wait, And Out Comes the Wolves isn't that great, but I don't dislike it.
@reidfleming2k6 Жыл бұрын
If you didn't see them live without Lars you might want to sit down. They were WAY better. Felt like they were going to run off the stage midsong and start beating the shit out of you.
