Zoltan c almost 3 hours, one of three outcomes. 1. Rand loses early because of BS and this is the first run of the restart. 2. Heartbreaker against the flagship or a forced S7 Lanius Bomber or something. 3. Brutal win as it always is with this thing.

This run was an emotional rollercoaster! I've been watching for a year or two now on KZbin and I don't know if I can remember a more exciting comeback! I literally fist pumped for you on that win. Skill and sound strategy coming together. You should be really proud of this one especially.

This felt like one of the greatest comebacks of all time from a sporting event! Truly astounding with one of the worst ships with punishing RNG. The Hail Mary Zoltan shield for flak saved the run and the small bomb at the end was similarly brilliant. You got this cycle Rand!!

Wow. That was possibly the best FTL run I've ever seen. I was sure it was over at one point. Zoltan C has killed me more often than any other ship. I know I would have mentally checked out if my run were going as badly as this one. Oh, and there is a thread on reddit from yesterday explaining that Zoltan C is a good ship. I can only imagine people play on easy.

It's a great ship even on hard if you allow rerolls and play with pause since you start with what will eventually be 4x extra power. Some of my highest scores are with that ship. But none of that applies to the no pause win streak Rand is going for, so he had to live with 5 empty jumps to start and even worse further in.

But it's so bad at the start, where most deaths happen. Getting boarded just kills you, unless you do the pre-venting and crew on doors trick. Ugh. The Zoltan can't fight, and as you walk them around they de-power your ship. Drone offence means you're doing the power up/power down trick, and hoping the drone attacks something good. When you do upgrade your weapons, you have drone control taking up space instead of having a good system. BTW, I find drone control really fun, but it's a bit crappy. Weak reactor is such a bad penalty on hard, where the scrap matters. Backup battery isn't sufficient compensation. Yes, those Zoltan will power your ship one day, but today is not that day. A human plus one extra reactor would be so much better at the start. Saying "it's okay if you reset a bunch of times" is weird. Other ships are okay if you don't reset a bunch of times. :) I've died so many times because I keep playing the damn thing, for some reason. I'll defend it as fun, but not as good.

this ship is probably meant to play as zoltan border police. save up 90 scrap for the teleporter and you are set 😂😂

Watched the whole VOD today, Zoltan C runs are often such nail biters and this one had me on the edge of my seat. The zoltan shield for flak gamble had me saying "We're all in" as well. That was your hail mary and it paid dividends on the god sector 7. I had a crewmate on a Mantis ship earlier this streak but I'm hoping for another to help put this cycle to bed once and for all. All the Rock ships are left so I'll take a crewman named "Blue" at the earliest possible one. May RNGesus be with you Rand. Great run!

First of all, this was an absolutely phenomenal run. Well done! The comment calling out that one guy for backseating when he commented to trust in the doors seemed a bit weird for me. For most of this run up to that point, you had this very 'think with me' chat in regards to the build choices, and you even commented yourself you wanted to upgrade doors. I hate backseaters as much as the next person, but this just seemed to be engaging with the content you provide. If the dude just randomly offered a third option you'd not mentioned nor inquired about, then I'd lean more towards it being backseating, but EVEN in that case... the comment is at best vaguely suggesting the upgrade might be useful in future events, which is stuff you already openly stated anyways. Of course, I didn't see the context of their other comments or behavior in your chat in general, so your reaction may have more reasons than what I can tell purely based on this video.

Yes, but you have to be careful when venting your whole ship while dealing with boarders. Basically, if boarders kill O2, doors, or clone bay while your ship is vented, you're screwed. So controlling enemy boarders WHILE venting your ship requires some careful management or you kill your entire crew accidentally (which I've done many times in the past). This is, of course, much harder on NO pause since if you screw up...it can be impossible to fix in time.
