Hi Ola. As a sound engineer for 20+ years and has lots of experience in room/venue recordings, I recommend a boundary mic or two (stereo) on the back walls of the room in conjunction with what you're doing with the other mics. You might be pleasantly surprised... I hope. ;-)

There's something super gritty yet clean and focused about a lot of solid state amps. The century in particular has a certain midrange grind that really pops. Some people would probably call it "sterile" sounding. But in a mix it would probably sit great with very little post processing required

Very subtle headstock on that guitar *cough*, but seriously the one thing I loved about Dimebag's riffs were the groove...people never talk about his groove but he had such a nice pocket and it sat so great with Vinnie's drumming, from years of rehearsing and playing together I am sure. It is one of the major things that a lot of music these days is missing from guys playing guitar in their bedrooms and programming drum tracks. Great video Ola and yeah it did sound like I was in the room.

that happened to my floyd on a 90's jackson.... I fixed it by pulling and replacing the trem posts and cleaning the pivot edges on the trem itself. (cleaning with a file)
@michaelmurray51054 жыл бұрын
I had an RG that did that, the trem was so worn out that it was catching up on the return. I didn't know anything about flloyd's or floating tremolos then, it was my first and I bought it VERY used apparently. Sadly it turned me off to them for a good while. Eventually I ended up getting a xiphos brand new because it was so out there for an Ibanez and I love the wizard necks etc, it completely turned me around on that style trem though and I'm very glad it did. I ended up "losing" it, so that sucks, but I have a Dean MAB IV now and it plays like butter after dialing in the setup. Dime bombs for days, it's great lol. Of course I put an SH-13 in it too, so there's that. Rambling over though , I like what you're doing with this new series! It's a great idea and it actually sounds pretty fricken spot on with the full mix. Crazy idea, make a song and use that method to record the guitars and even bass maybe? Lots of work and lots of mixing, I know, but I think it could be epic. It'd be educational if nothing else : )

I like this series ! That's a really cool idea. I have a headrush pedal board and it's sounds great throught my Adam A7 but ...I still prefer the sound of my twin reverb and the air it is moving in the room. It's like when I record my archtop guitars (im a jazzboy, no chug here sorry), I use a rode nt-4 in front of the f-holes of the guitar plus the mic in front of the amp to get closer to what I hear when I play vs a straight electric sound! Keep it up it is always a pleasure to listen to your videos!

What a class Dimebolt. Washburn > Dean all day for the Dimebag guitars. Had the same annoying issue with an old Satriani Ibanez trem where you had to tune it pushed down or pulled and stick to that.
