The man has true feel - I don't think I have seen such a blend of emotion and technical mastery before except in Hendrix videos.
@neaituppi73066 жыл бұрын
Well, at least you got the father of this playing. Because he apparently didn't, by naming Stevie instead. Stevie was great, but he was a child of Hendrix.

found this guy organically at a Current Swell concert.. My favourite guitarist is SRV, i walked in sat in my seat he started ripping on his resonator, I legitimately dropped my beer on the ground just from shear shock, mind = blown been a fan ever since!

As much as I respect Joe Bonamassa and love his music Sayce is far more original. Joe just rehashes stuff (to an incredible standard granted) done by countless of old blues players
@Beerchasers6 жыл бұрын
gktde9874 Because Bonnamesa won the annual Guitar Magazine best blues guitarist contest and was marketed properly. By marketed properly of course I mean, shoved down our throat and told, "He's good. You will like him because we said so. Like him! Like him now, damn it!"
@Guitarwizardjoinme5 жыл бұрын
at least Joe has developed his own style, though he does borrow from SRV and Eric Johnson pretty heavily, he knows how to make it his own. Philip S is obviously playing SRV licks pretty much note for note. Same guitar, same amp, same tone, same vibrato, same everything. Thats why nobody is gonna pick him up. He's a great player, but he's not saying anything new or fresh. Just the same old SRV licks over and over and over and over. He does it really well, but for people who really know the blues, he is an imitator.
@Beerchasers6 жыл бұрын
I can hear influences like Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, SRV, Roy Buchannon and even Jimi all rolled in to one. I wish this kind of music were still in the foreground. Great find for me. Love it!

Geezus! Saw him live in Hamilton Ontario last summer, at a little joint called The Casbah. He just blows most guitarists out of the water. I took my grandfather's 1930s Regal Resonator with us in the hopes that Philip would sign it and I'd have a chance to meet the man. Sure enough, his eyes were all over that old guitar like it was a beautiful womanlololol He signed the disk for me and told me to keep playing. Just a super nice guy.

You heard John Mayer because he and Philip are largely influenced by the same people. They're fairly different in their own rights though.
@neaituppi73066 жыл бұрын
Frusciante too. But I always cite Hendrix as the source of everyone that was influenced by him. If he had not done what he did, they would have not come out the way they did. I was disappointed he named Stevie.

Can't say enough good stuff about this cat, and this version of this song just absolutely kills. Gotta give some love to the drummer, too, not to mention the bassist setting down a fat pocket. I couldn't possible give fewer shits about the dozens of other make-believe "blues" guys out there right now, but this dude is straight legit. Great singer, too.

Yeah I agree totally tone and licks all SRV but he does throw in some of his own sick licks too The guy does have tremendous rhythm and feel and technique is pretty sick all things considered it's as if Steve Vai suddenly decided to do Stevie Here's the thing people miss about Stevie - he was funky and soulful and tasty in addition to all his other stuff and you can't fake soul !!!!
