I don't know why his death was tragic or unexpected - he died he was 89 and pretty much had his health up to the final years. He retired in 1962 and died in 1987 as one of the richest Hollywood actors. He was my favorite western star.

Mine as well. JW made more movies. I still liked them both as actors. War or westerns. The Blazing Saddles call out, super fun. Clint Eastwood, outlives them both. All three of them, the best three. Audie Murphy#4. For War and westerns. For both. A #5 would be a tough pick. For both War movies and Westerns? Maybe Kirk Douglas. All crossovers. In the 40s and 50s.

Randolph Scott Is my favorite Western actor. He has swagger and humor and a mean streak. I have watch and collected most of his westerns for early his early days to his later westerns Ten Wanted Men, Buchanan Rides Alone, Bounty Hunter and Tall T are some of my favorites. The are other great Western stars John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, James Stewart, but to me, no one was greater than Randolph Scott. His movies showdown the glamours to the gritty to the man just wanting to own his on spread with a seed bull and a couple of cattle.

I will never believe he was gay, according to his son Christopher that wrote a book about his dad. He said he had never heard the gossip about his dad. He happen to be in a grocery store and read the tabloid about his dad. He writes that he was able to speak to some people that were still around and was around his dad a lot, they all denied this about his dad. He even wrote about asking his mother about it and she confirmed none of the gossip was true. She had scrap books with a lot of the pictures that people are seeing these days. So this is the reason I say I don't believe it. All of this stemed from someone wanting to make money and try to make a name for themselves. Shame on these people.

In my experience I’ve never known or heard of anyone who didn’t have a dark side, along with trial’s and troubles in life. The Devil doesn’t spare anyone, some just have it worse than others. But watching this video, it looked like Randolph Scott was a rare exception, I’ve never heard of such a blessed life, right from the beginning to the end, everything went his way, with everything this World had to offer, riches, fame, possessions, and good health to enjoy them. It looked like God must’ve been so pleased with him , that he blessed him with everything, and put a hedge around him, to protect him from everything. It seemed that it was either that, or like someone who had made a pact with the Devil. But then we find out at the end, that he wasn’t an exception, and was no different than anyone else. And he was hit hard with the most powerful weapon the Devil has in his toolbox, that neither the wisest man who ever lived, nor the wealthiest, or the most powerful, nor the strongest man who ever was, was any match, with the slightest chance, whenever any sort of sexual temptation’s became a Satanic Stronghold in they’re life. And it doesn’t matter what type it is, or that one is worse than another, so that no one has a right to boast that their sin isn’t as bad as someone else’s. And given the right set of circumstances, we’re all capable of far worse than anything we may have done, or what we may think we couldn’t ever do.

Among my gay friends was a former drag queen, Mr. Scott's last boyfriend. The revelation was quite a shock to me because Scott was probably my greatest role model growing up and until that point, I hadn't even considered what his sexual preferences were. A homophobia rooted in one's own sexual insecurities.
