I bet that kid HATED piano lessons growing up. When this happens, you realize the power of being able to create beautiful sounds that only have meaning to human beings. It's like learning a universal language. All of a sudden he's able to completely capture a group of teenagers that, in most circumstances, he would probably look up to from afar and think that they were cool and they likely wouldn't notice him. I regret learning guitar over the piano. There is something really rad about being able to play the piano well.

The guy cheering every student's name and clapping at that graduation really got me. I was bullied relentlessly for all four years of high school, had no friends, and might as well have been dead to everyone graduating alongside me. It seemed everyone else who walked up to that stage had a round of applause and cheers not only from a large family group but from their wealth of friends and peers. When I got up there, I felt like absolute shit, because I maybe got the standard few claps from the majority and that was it. I wanted to put my cap over my face and disappear. It already felt like I was invisible to everyone anyway. To have had someone there like this man to cheer for me and be proud for me, even without knowing me, would have made a world of difference.
