Turin main error in your calculation was thinking that Papa would behave logicaly. He wont. He is a CPL (civ6 server) player and 99% of that server are griefers. They will happily lose 5 hours of gameplay (in better case - in worse one they will spend 50 hours griefing in next games as well) cause somebody did some minor thing to them instead of moving on and playing for win themselves. Also they find ruining somebody elses game absolutly hilarious. Trust me I had to leave that server even though I love Civ6, cause your mental health will be taking constant damage from being there. If you see somebody active from CPL you better dodge them like a plague.

Is the Corrino Army even strong? Every time I see them in videos, they are getting beat.

It is solid for sure!

Turin gave the short answer, the long answer is yes. Their artillery is brutal, their flamethrowers are very strong from stacking damage, and their sard are pretty op with the right tech. Their normal troops are trash, and you can lean into that, because you can make them even worse to swarm them and reduce effectiveness and command point cost to take advantage of techs that make them win harder if they have more units in a territory. They need a good amount of micro to engage without throwing away your army. They need solid planning, but can be the best army on the field if you know what you're doing/plan for the fights and give the units your attention. Lag barring of course. I hope this helps.
